These Kids just don't get it... Hyde Dismissed Roby in Trouble

Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde has been dismissed from the team, according to a report in the Columbus Dispatch.

Hyde was named as a "person of interest" in an alleged assault against a female that took place over the weekend at a bar in Columbus. Hyde hasn't been charged.

Hyde rushed for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Buckeyes last season, serving as half of a very strong rushing combination with quarterback Braxton Miller. Had Hyde reached the 1,000-yard mark he would have been the first running back to do so on a team coached by Urban Meyer.

Last year, Meyer dismissed linebacker Storm Klein from the team after a domestic violence arrest. The charge was later dismissed and Klein was reinstated before the season began.

Urban Meyer and Ohio State have had better Mondays.

In addition to the reported dismissal of starting running back Carlos Hyde, the Columbus Dispatch is reporting that star cornerback Bradley Roby was arrested in Bloomongton, Ind. Sunday and faces "preliminary charges" of battery resulting in bodily injury.

The Dispatch cited sources saying that Roby "was asked to leave a bar after a disturbance, refused, and was subdued by bouncers at the bar before being taken into custody."

Bloomington P.D. issued a press release reproduced by Eleven Warriors stating that witnesses saw Roby "attempt to start a fight" inside the bar. He was removed but attempted to re-enter the bar, at which point he "struck one of the security guards in the chest."

Roby will reportedly have a hearing related to the arrest this afternoon.

A fourth-year junior, Roby is expected to be not only Ohio State's best defensive player* but one of the Big Ten's brightest defensive stars. A 2012 first-team All-Big Ten selection, Roby has appeared on multiple preseason award watch lists -- including the Jim Thorpe Award -- and is a potential preseason All-American.

Any extended Roby absence could be highly damaging to a Buckeye defense that returns only four starters (Roby included) and finished 11th in the Big Ten last season in passing defense (albeit sixth in pass efficiency defense).
