NHL sides, -1 1/2 no? +1 1/2 in situations?

Good day everyone.

I am new here and certainly do not want to step out of line, but I do have some thoughts and commentary I would like to share with all of you.

In the past, when I saw a money line set at -180 or greater my first inclination was to take the game at -1 1/2 to achieve better odds on the vig.

My whole philosophy was altered when I came to a personal realization that one of the primary differences between hockey in comparison to american football, basketball, and baseball, was the denominations available for scoring. Football offers safeties, field goals, and touchdowns. Basketball offers free throws, field goals, and long range field goals. In baseball, even though only one run can technically cross the plate at a time there are walks, singles, doubles, triples, and home runs, that contribute to multiple runs being scored at any given time. In hockey, a goal is a goal whether is be scored from the blue line, center line, or the slot area, etc.

For me this causes grave concerns when reviewing a game and seriously considering laying -1 1/2 on a play. My thoughts are that in hockey, primarily in this day and age, with the current rules and regulations in place, cause many games to result in a 1 goal win/loss. I liken a goal scored in hockey as equivalent to a touchdown in football. I abide by a personal principle to never give 1 1/2, but I will take 1 1/2 in certain situations for the same reason as outlined previously.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this? I would appreciate some feedback. Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter, and have a great day! :)

Thanks for posting A+ and I don't know much about capping hockey, but from what I've seen those -1.5's just always look so attractive but there's a reason they throw them out there with so much +$$....the +1.5's obviously should hit more because of the odds, but I just can't lay the kind of juice that they put on those to bet on the team I think will lose and hope they only lose by 1....obviously if you get to OT then the +1.5 is already a winner....interested to see what some of the more experienced hockey handicappers have to say...
