Following a slow Sunday in the NHL, we have an 11-game slate on Monday, January 16, and here you can read the best Flyers vs. Bruins betting pick and odds.

Philadelphia is searching for the fourth win in a row when they visit Boston at TD Garden. The Bruins are -275 moneyline favorites on BookMaker Sportsbook, while the total is set at 6 goals. These conference rivals have met once this year, and the Bruins won 4-1 in Boston.

Flyers flying high

The Philadelphia Flyers (18-18-6-1, 28-15 ATS) are enjoying their best hockey this season as they won seven of the last eight games. The Flyers are currently on a three-game winning streak after their previous four-game winning run was snapped by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Philadelphia beat the Washington Capitals in the latest game, which was the second consecutive victory against the same rival in the space of three days.

Despite attempting 25 shots opposite Washington’s 40, the Flyers defeated the Capitals 3-1 on the road. Carter Hart was excellent at the goal with 39 stops, while Scott Laughton led the team on offense with two points. This season, Travis Konecny is Philly’s most valuable player with 46 points (G 24, A 22), while Kevin Hayes is also a major contributor with 37 (G 10, A 27).

Carter Hart (13-12-6) is likely going to take his place between the sticks on Monday against Boston. The 24-year-old is allowing 2.91 goals per game this year with a .910 SV% and no shutouts.

C Sean Couturier (back), RW Cam Atkinson (upper body), and D Ryan Ellis (back) are out indefinitely and will not play in Boston on Monday.

Bruins returned to winning ways against Toronto

The Boston Bruins (33-5-1-3, 26-16 ATS) bounced back from a 3-0 loss to the Seattle Kraken, a loss that ended a four-game winning streak, with a 4-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Bruins still have the best record in the entire NHL and are nine points clear of the closest rivals – the Carolina Hurricanes. Boston will conclude a three-game home stand with this game against Philadelphia, after which the Bruins will spend nine of 11 games on the road.

Boston trailed 1-0 and 2-1 against Toronto, but the hosts deserved the victory in the end as they had 34 shots opposite the Maple Leafs’ 21. No player recorded more than a point for the Bruins as nine individuals registered a point, including David Pastrnak, who scored a goal. Pastrnak is leading the team in points this season with 59 (G 33, A 26), and that’s good enough for the fifth-best numbers in the NHL. Brad Marchand with 38 (G 13, A 25), and Patrice Bergeron with 34 points (G 16, A 18) are also important players for the Bruins.

Linus Ullmark (23-2-1) is expected to start at the goal against the Flyers on Monday. The 29-year-old is conceding 1.92 goals per contest this season with a .936 SV% and two shutouts.

LW Jake DeBrusk has been moved to the long-term injured reserve list with a lower-body injury, and he is expected to be out until early February.

Trends:

Philadelphia:

  • 7-1 in the last eight games overall
  • 5-0 in the last five games on the road

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Boston Bruins Pick

Boston has the best defense in the NHL that allows 2.17 goals per game, while Philadelphia is conceding 3.16 goals per contest. The Bruins are also very strong on offense as they have the second-best offense in the league which averages 3.76 gpg. Although the hosts are better than the Flyers in every segment and I believe they are closer to the win here, I am backing the visitors to put up a fight and don’t lose by more than a goal. Philadelphia is in good form, the best since the start of the season, so I wouldn’t be shocked if the Flyers even snatch a win on Monday.

Pick: Take the Flyers at +1.5 Puck Line (-115)

The Total

Even though they have the second-best offense in the NHL, it’s not going to be easy for the Bruins to score many goals against Philly. The Flyers allowed more than three goals in just one of the previous eight games and given the last H2H and a 4-1 scoreline for Boston, I think we will have another low-scoring affair. Boston’s goalie Linus Ullmark is the best in the league, which is another reason for Under. Under is 9-3 in the last 12 H2H meetings in Boston.

Pick: Go Under 6.5 goals (-133)
