We have a very entertaining Western Conference matchup on Thursday night when the high flying Oklahoma City Thunder head to Oakland to take on the run and gun Golden State Warriors. This is a nationally televised event in what could be a preview of a potential playoff matchup.
The Oklahoma City Thunder (57-21) still have a chance to be top seed in the West. This is looking more within their grasp than ever with the Spurs dealing with a multitude of injuries. OKC went to the NBA finals last year and they know how important the home court can be. They also feed off the energy of their rowdy hometown fans. The Thunder are loaded with talent and feature two of the games best players in Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. These are a couple of clutch performers and both love the spotlight.
The Golden State Warriors (45-33) are getting healthier each day. They know that they will face a challenge on Thursday night and they won’t be backing down. They will want to put a show on for their hometown fans and also send a message to the rest of the league that they are for real. Golden State is lead by emerging superstar Stephen Curry. The sharp shooting Curry is averaging almost 23 points per game and has really taken his game to another level this season. Curry, along with big man David Lee who is averaging almost 19 points per game to go along with his 11 plus boards per game are definite matchup problems for anyone they play.
In what should be a very fun offensive game, the outcome will be determined by which team can get the key defensive stop. While I like the Warriors game I feel that OKC is still a bit ahead of them on the defensive end. In what should be a great game to watch I like Oklahoma City 107-104.
