The Georgia Bulldogs visit the South Carolina Gamecocks with the game scheduled for Saturday night. That could change based on Hurricane Matthew so keep an eye on the news regarding whether or not this game time will change or whether the game will take place on Sunday or Monday. The Bulldogs comes into this game at 3-2 while the Gamecocks are 2-3. Georgia is listed as about a TD favorite on the road. Let’s look at the contest and college football picks.
College Football Odds
Georgia Bulldogs -6.5, total 40.5
Georgia Bulldogs 3-2 SU, 2-3 ATS
The Bulldogs won their first three games of the season but have since dropped the past two including a heart-breaking loss to Tennessee last week on a Hail Mary pass as time ran out. That loss ended any real chance of Georgia contending in the SEC this season but the Bulldogs still have a chance to make a good bowl game if they close out the year well. Head coach Kirby Smart has to get his team to forget about the loss to the Volunteers and move on to South Carolina.
The Georgia offense will be better if they get running back Nick Chubb back and all indications are that he will return to the lineup for this contest. He should take the pressures off of quarterback Jacob Eason.
Georgia needs to score a lot of points because the defense is giving up over 30 points per game.
South Carolina Gamecocks 2-3 SU, 3-2 ATS
The Gamecocks have struggled this season under head coach Will Muschamp with the offense doing next to nothing. The Gamecocks have an issue at quarterback as Perry Orth and Brandon McIlwain are both seeing action. The Gamecocks do have running back A.J. Turner who had 113 yards last time out. South Carolina is scoring just 14 points per game which is 127th in the nation.
The defense for South Carolina has been decent allowing just 18.6 points per game. The defense is looking forward to going against Chubb in this matchup. “Georgia’s offensive line is more what I like,” South Carolina defensive tackler Taylor Stallworth said. “They’re more of a come-at-you-type of offensive line.”
The Bulldogs are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 meetings at South Carolina. The Bulldogs are 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. The Bulldogs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in October. The Gamecocks are 2-0 ATS at home this season.
South Carolina has gone under the total in all five games this season. The Under is 4-1 in the Bulldogs last 5 road games. The Under is 6-0 in the Gamecocks last 6 conference games. The Under is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings in South Carolina.
College Football Picks
Georgia is the better team but with the hangover from last week and the weather issues it is hard to trust them laying points. I will avoid a side and just take this game under the total.
