wolfpack eagles cfb picksOn Saturday, November 11, 2017, the No. 20 ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack travel north to alumni Stadium to take on the Boston College Eagles in this ACC contest. North Carolina State enters this game on a two-game losing streak, but no one can really fault them when their two losses are against No.9 ranked Notre Dame and No. 6 ranked Clemson. This is a team that has shown some incredible fight, who was on a six-game winning streak before suffering the two defeats versus the nationally ranked teams, including victories over No. 12 ranked Florida State and No. 17 ranked Louisville.

Boston College was 1-3 at one point before winning four of their next five, and enter this contest on a three-game win streak. They absolutely crushed Florida State last weekend, a week after destroying Virginia. Over the last two weeks, they’ve outscored their opponents 76-13.

The Wolfpack have not performed well against the spread this season, going 4-5, and they are just 2-4 in their last six games against the spread against Boston College. That includes going 3-7 straight up in the last 10 against BC, and they have gone under in five of the last six games between these two teams. In the last six games at Boston College, North Carolina State has gone 1-5 against the spread. They have also gone under in five of the last six games on the road.

The Eagles are 6-3 against the spread so far this season, and have gone 5-1 against the Wolfpack at home against the spread in their last six meetings. They are 5-0 against the spread in their last five and have also gone 4-1 in their last five straight up. The total has gone under in four of their last five games at home and they are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven at home.

Wolfpack vs. Eagles

Spread: North Carolina State -2.5  (-120); Boston College +2.5  (+100)  at 5Dimes Sportsbook.

Moneyline: North Carolina State -145; Boston College +125

Totals: Over/Under52.0 (-110)

North Carolina State has an outstanding run game of their own thanks to Nyheim Hines, who has gained 688 yards and six touchdowns this season. Hines is an elusive runner, gaining 5.5 yards per carry, and averaging about 14 carries per game.

The quarterback for the Wolfpack is Ryan Finley who has been extremely impressive with the ball in his hands, throwing for 2519 yards and 15 touchdowns. Finley has thrown just three interceptions this season and has completed 65.7 percent of his passes. He is an outstanding talent, who should put the Eagles secondary to the test.

Bradley Chubb is outstanding at rushing the quarterback, recording 7.5 sacks this season. While the Wolfpack have 20 sacks, he opens opportunities for other defenders to get pressure, because he is completely relentless, recording 18.5 tackles for loss as well.

The Eagles are getting an exceptional ground game from AJ Dillon, who has rushed for 843 yards and seven touchdowns the season. Dylan is an impressive runner, who can handle a heavy workload and works hard for every yard. His 4.8 yards per carry average testify to how difficult he is to stop, and his 185 carries in nine games tell you a lot about his durability.

Anthony Brown is the quarterback, and he has been confident for the Eagles. Brown has passed for 1338 yards and 11 touchdowns, but has thrown eight interceptions the season. He will force balls into coverage, which should bode well for North Carolina State in this game, giving them extra opportunities to defeat the Eagles.

The one area of this game that should be really exciting, is how well the Eagles secondary will matchup against Finley. This is a team that has 19 sacks and 13 interceptions, meaning that they are getting adequate pressure and making plays when quarterbacks make mistakes. Lukas Denis is one that really is exceptional, recording five interceptions the season plus he is third on the team in total tackles.

Wolfpack vs. Eagles Betting Lines

This is an evenly matched game, and the oddsmakers recognize that as well, giving the Wolfpack a slight edge to pull off the victory. That seems about accurate. This game has all the makings of a victory for North Carolina State by a field goal near the end of the contest, so take the Wolfpack to cover the spread. This will likely also go just barely over 52.

My Pick: North Carolina State -2.5 (-120)

Totals:Over 52.0 (-110)
