NHL Week 11 Betting Tips – December 9 – 15th
- Updated: December 9, 2013
After a small slate Monday, the NHL kicks it back into high gear on Tuesday, as there are 12 games on the slate, including an Eastern Conference match-up between the Detroit Red Wings visiting the Florida Panthers. The Red Wings typically have a strong following in south Florida and this is a good spot for them to pick up a road victory and improve their 10-3-1 road record, which is one of the best in the NHL. It’s also a bit of a quick revenge game for Detroit, which lost to Florida 2-1 at home on Sunday.
On Thursday, the New York Islanders visit Phoenix in a game that could see a rare total of 6, as the Islanders are last in the NHL in goals against. The Coyotes are still having problems learning Dave Tippet’s new up-tempo approach and surrendering nearly as many goals as they score, which makes this game a logical choice to go over the total.
Earlier in the evening, the Columbus Blue Jackets visit the New York Rangers in a game between the two frequent trading partners. With Sergei Bobrovsky expected to miss more than a month and Henrik Lundqvist struggling a bit, it could be a decent spot to grab the over 5.
Saturday’s slate is a good one, as there are several Stanley Cup rematches of the past few years, beginning with Pittsburgh at Detroit. As good as the Red Wings have been on the road, they’ve been almost equally as bad at home, losing 12 of 17 contests. This game is likely to be close to even and a decent opportunity to grab Pittsburgh.
The Bruins visit Vancouver on the same day and Vancouver no doubt is still steamed about losing the Cup in 2011 in front of the home fans. The Bruins may be a bit short-handed for this one, as Shawn Thornton is likely to be suspended and Loui Eriksson, who has a concussion. A good spot to take a motivated home team at a short price.
