NHL – TRENDS OF THE DAY

The National Hockey League has 12 games on the schedule for Tuesday. The St. Louis Blues visiting the Nashville Predators may be the biggest game on tap, however, the Washington Capitals visiting the Winnipeg Jets should be an exciting affair as well.

  • Los Angeles Kings (+105) vs. Carolina Hurricanes (-125)

Los Angeles is 16-11-2 on the road this season and they are 6-4-0 in their last 10. Carolina is 14-9-5 at home and they are 5-4-1 in their last 10. The Kings are 5-2 in their last seven games and are 10-4 in their last 14 against teams with a losing record. Carolina has won only two of their last 10 games against teams with a winning record and they are winners of only one of their last six home games against teams with a winning road record.

Los Angeles has gone over in five of their last seven games against teams with a losing record. The Hurricanes have gone under in each of their last seven games and have gone under in each of their last seven home games. Most of the trends for Carolina been to go under.

The score has gone under in seven of the last 10 meetings between these two teams, including six of the last 10 in Carolina. The Kings have been winners of nine of the last 13 meetings between these two teams.

Los Angeles seems to have gotten out of their doldrums, so look for the Kings to win, 3-1.

  • Washington Capitals (+120) vs. Winnipeg Jets (-140)

Washington is 12-9-4 on the road this season and they are 4-3-3 in their last 10. Winnipeg is 20-5-2 at home and they are 6-2-2 in their last 10. The Capitals have won 39 of their last 57 games against teams with a winning record. The Jets have won 26 of their last 33 games at home and have won four of their last five against Eastern Conference teams.

Washington has gone over in six of their last seven games and they have gone over in five of their last six on the road. Winnipeg has gone under in eight of their last 11 against teams with a winning record and has gone under in six of their last eight at home.

The home team has won six of the last seven meetings, but the Capitals have won 10 of the last 12. The total has gone over in seven of the last 10 meetings.

There are a number of contradictory trends going on here, but we like Winnipeg at home. Take the Jets, 4-3.

  • Louis Blues (+135) vs. Nashville Predators (-155)

St. Louis has won four of their last five games on the road. Nashville has won five of their last seven games against teams with a winning record and they have won 10 of their last 14 overall. St. Louis has won five of the last six meetings between these two teams, but they have lost each of the last six in Nashville. We roll with that number, so take Nashville to win 2-1.

  • New York Rangers (+170) vs. Minnesota Wild (-200)

The Rangers have lost seven of their last 10 and seven of their last nine on the road. The Wild are winners of 19 of their last 26 games at home. Minnesota is really tough at home, so take the Wild, 3-1.

  • Calgary Flames vs Boston Bruins.

Calgary has won four of their last five and seven of their last nine on the road. Boston has won their last five games against teams with a winning record and they have won their last four against teams with a winning road record. This should be a fantastic game in terms of trends, but we like the fact that Calgary has won only two of the last seven meetings in Boston. Take the Bruins, 3-0.
