We’re just 6-6 with our NFL Pick of the Week, having never fully recovered for our brutal three-week run a few weeks back, but still time to get our NFL record to more respectability than 20-18, so hopefully we’ll get the ball rolling in the right direction here, as we look at the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks. The Eagles are favored by 5 and the total is down to 47 after opening slightly higher at 48.
The Eagles have covered their last seven straight and are 10-1 straight up and 9-2 ATS on the season. Philadelphia averages 31.9 points per game on 381.5 yards of offense per game. The Eagles aren’t afraid to keep the ball on the ground and have rushed for more than 100 yards in each of their last seven games, but might not enjoy the same success against Seattle’s rushing defense.
Defensively the Eagles allow just 17.4 points per game and 291 yards per game, but are also aided by their offense, which keeps the ball more than 33 minutes per game. There’s probably little difference between the two defenses, even though the Eagles allow 1.9 fewer points and 20 fewer yards just due to the difference each unit is on the field.
Seattle has surprisingly lost its last two games at home and is 3-2 in front of the “12th Man” on the year. But seeing Seattle as a home underdog of 4 or more points is a bit unusual and they’ve fared well in this situation, having gone 19-12 ATS all the back to 1989 and Seattle has covered their last three as a home dog of greater than 4.
Seattle hasn’t really been able to establish a ground game during this season and has instead relied on Russell Wilson’s throwing more than they have in year’s past. That might not matter too much against the Eagles, who allow just 3.5 yards per carry.
The Eagles have been solid in the turnover department and have only had more than one turnover in a game once during their seven-game winning streak and are a plus 7 in that span, while the Seahawks are a plus 4 in their last seven games, where they’ve posted a 5-2 record.
Have to grab the Seahawks in this one, as Seattle may be guilty of coasting at times during the season, this is a game they’ll be ready for and look to make a statement, so will grab the Seahawks and the points for this week’s play.
