Spread: Dallas -3
The Dallas Cowboys were rolling along at a pretty swift pace until Monday night, when they were slowed down a bit by the Washington Redskins. And now there might be some injury questions surrounding their quarterback as they prepare to face another team that has been finding ways to win, the Arizona Cardinals, in NFL betting action that is scheduled to get underway at 1 PM ET on Sunday.
Dallas, which closed out as a nine-point favorite at VietBet against the Redskins, were perhaps a bit surprised by the Washington defense and the poise shown by Colt McCoy. They lost 20-17 in overtime, and that snapped a six-game winning streak. The Cardinals have won three consecutive games and are sitting atop the NFC West. They made it pretty dramatic this past Sunday when they turned back the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20.
When you look at the Cardinals, you get the feeling that it’s a team whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts. They have suffered through the loss of several defensive starters. They don’t have a running game that generally controls things, partially because Andre Ellington has been dealing with a bad foot. But Carson Palmer, even with a bad shoulder, has compiled a ratio of eight TD passes to just one interception. And there is a threatening group of receivers. This was evident to VietBet customers against Philadelphia, as Palmer hooked up on an 80-yard touchdown pass to Larry Fitzgerald and a 75-yarder to John Brown.
They have also gotten some timely plays out of that defensive unit, although the Eagles posted 521 yards last Sunday. The cornerback are opportunistic; Patrick Peterson is, well, Patrick Peterson. And Antonio Cromartie had two huge interceptions. This is a team with a 6-1 straight-up record, with a 12-3-1 pointspread mark over the last 16 games, and Bruce Arians looks to be the kind of guy who has squeezed every ounce out of this squad.
Tony Romo, who completed 17 of 28 on Monday night but was sacked five times, actually had to leave the game at one point but returned. He suffered a back contusion; as NFL bettors know, he had to undergo surgery in December for his back problems. And he will have “extensive tests,” according to coach Jason Garrett. But VietBet patrons can expect him to get the start in this game.
And DeMarco Murray keeps on rolling. Who is going to argue against his credentials as an MVP front-runner? Murray has now rushed for 100 yards or more in the first eight games of the season (an NFL record). Against the Redskins he had 141 yards on the ground and 80 more in receptions. He will provide the ultimate test for the Arizona defensive front, which has limited opponents to just 3.3 yards per carry.
Dallas should not be expecting to get any cheap opportunities in this game; the well-coached Cardinals have turned the ball over only three times this season. And they’ve got a two-game cushion in the NFC West. Could this be a playoff preview?
