NFL Lock of the Week – Week 16
- Updated: December 20, 2011
The word lock in football simply means the best bet on the board. While some football betting fanatics hate the word and even think that it hurts the play, or jinxes it, there is no better feeling when you find the lock and it wins easily.
This week the lock of the week in the NFL is in the game between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Kansas City Chiefs are off the biggest win of the year as they defeated the Green Bay Packers to hand them their first loss of the season. This is a monumental win and in fact the Chiefs even still have a realistic chance of making the playoffs but they must beat the Raiders.
The trends in this game favor Oakland. The Raiders are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Kansas City, the underdog is 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 meetings, and the road team is 20-5-1 ATS in their last 26 meetings. The Chiefs are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games as a home favorite and 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games as a favorite of 0.5-3.0.
The Raiders are not playing god football, but this line is over hyped after the Chiefs beat the Packers. The Chiefs are 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a home favorite of 0.5-3.0 and have trouble winning ball games but are expected to beat the Raiders and cover the number.
The Raiders should get the services back of running back Darren McFadden and if they do they will crush the Chiefs and be the biggest lock of week 16 in the NFL. Even if the Raiders don’t get McFadden back they will still win this game in easy fashion.
