NFL Lock of the Week – NFL Week 8
- Updated: October 28, 2011
This week the lock in the NFL can be found without digging very deep. The Tennessee Titans take on the Indianapolis Colts and although they are a very big favorite they are still the lock of the week in the NFL.
When the opening line in the NFL came out the Titans were listed as nine point favorites and since then they were bet up to ten points. This is because the general betting public is hammering the Titans after the Colts were crushed on Sunday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints.
The Colts were dismantled and disgusted against the Saints. The defense folded and the offense was lifeless. They had no urgency and this could have easily been the worst loss in the history of the franchise. The Colts are now in front of the line to get Andrew Luck and recent controversy around Peyton Manning has begun to surface. This team is talking about a new quarterback, a new coach, and a new direction; there is no reason to believe that they will show up for this game.
The Tennessee Titans also are off an embarrassing home loss that was historic, and if they want to turn their season around, now is the time. The experts are saying that Chris Johnson is done and if he is going to answer the critics, now is the time.
The Titans are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss, and 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games in Week 8. The Colts are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss, 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game, and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
The Colts have given up on the season and the Titans are the lock of the week in the NFL.
