The Bengals and the Texans met last year in what was the first playoff game in the history of the Houston franchise, and now, they are going to meet once again. It’s the exact same venue, it’s the exact same day, it’s the exact same time. It’s not nearly the same game, though. The good news for the Texans is that they are going to have QB Matt Schaub back in the fold in this one, and he wasn’t around for last year’s run in the postseason. The bad news is that this team, in spite of the fact that it is two games better off than last year’s club, clearly isn’t in as good of shape in terms of recent form. The Texans enter this one having dropped three of their last four games to limp into the second season. This is a much better Cincinnati team as well. The Bengals beat some darn good teams this year both home and away, and it has only been beaten once, by a single point at that, over the course of the last month and change. Houston has won the last four meetings in this series two of which came last year.

Minnesota Vikings (10-6 SU, 8-7-1 ATS) @ Green Bay Packers (11-5 SU, 9-7 ATS)
Spread: Green Bay -9.5, Total: 46

Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI – Saturday, January 5th, 8:00 ET

It’s unbelievable to think that the Packers and the Vikings have only met once before in their history in the playoffs. It was a game that the Vikes picked up right here in Lambeau Field. Green Bay slipped down to the No. 3 seed in the NFC when it lost last week at the Metrodome against this very same Minnesota team. The men in purple only got into the playoffs because of that win, though. QB Aaron Rodgers threw 39 touchdown passes this year, and the argument could be made that he should be in the running for the MVP honor. The man that could win that award though, is the man that literally carried the Vikes into the playoffs, RB Adrian Peterson. All Day finished up with the second most rushing yards in a single season in NFL history, falling just eight yards short of RB Eric Dickerson’s all-time mark. These two split the regular season meetings, with both home teams winning. Both Rodgers and Peterson had huge days in this series in the two games, and whichever one has the bigger game in this one is going to probably be the team that wins the rubber match of this series for 2012-13.

Indianapolis Colts (11-5 SU, 11-5 ATS) @ Baltimore Ravens (10-6 SU, 6-9-1 ATS)

The old Baltimore team is going to be taking on the new Baltimore team in the first round of the playoffs in this one. The Colts are a great story this year, as they are bringing a ton of rookies into this game. The rookie of them all is QB Andrew Luck, who is likely to win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. He put together the most passing yards in the history of the league for a first year man, but this is his toughest test. Head Coach Chuck Pagano is also one of the more emotional men in the league, and his return to the team after taking on his battle with leukemia for over three months was as big as it gets for any team. Normally speaking, that would be enough emotion to get a team going in the playoffs, but on the other side, the news broke on Wednesday that LB Ray Lewis was going to retire when the postseason concludes. That means that this is going to be the final home game of his career, and if this one is lost, it will be the last game of his career. Over the course of the last eight meetings of these teams, it has been all Colts, as they are 7-1 SU and 8-0 ATS in those outings. In there, there are a pair of playoff wins as well for Indy, including one right here at M&T Bank Stadium.

Seattle Seahawks (11-5 SU, 11-5 ATS) @ Washington Redskins (10-6 SU, 11-5 ATS)
Spread: Seattle -3, Total: 46

It’s not all that often that you see a pair of rookie quarterbacks in the same playoff game, but in this one, we have two quarterbacks that are clearly on their way to remarkable careers. QB Russell Wilson threw the most touchdown passes for a rookie in a career with 26, while QB Robert Griffin III not only rushed for more than 800 yards and threw for over 3,000 yards, but he also had the best TD/INT ratio for a rookie in league history as well at 20/5. The Seahawks won their final five games of the season, and the middle three of those games were won by the combined score of 150-20. It really looks like there is no stopping this team at the moment, but perhaps what it takes is a team that has rolled off seven straight wins both from an SU and an ATS perspective. Seattle almost surprisingly finished first in the league in scoring defense this year, while Washington, certainly surprisingly, finished with the best rushing mark in the league this year, averaging over 160 rushing yards per game between RG3 and RB Alfred Morris. These Redskins have won and covered two straight meetings in this series, but you have to go back almost a decade to find the last game that was played between these two in DC. These two met once before in the playoffs in 2006 and the host Seahawks whooped up on the Skins in that game.
