NFC Top Three Matchups- Week 1
The 2012 NFL regular season gets underway this Wednesday night with a classic NFC East showdown between Dallas and New York, but there are a couple of other crucial battles in the conference on Week 1’s schedule. The following is a handicapping guide for the top three games in the NFC this Sunday with lines provided by Bookmaker.
Sunday, Sept. 9
Carolina Panthers (-1) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Total Line: 46.5
Carolina has covered the spread just twice in its last nine games on opening day. It is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games against the NFC South and the total has gone OVER in the last four games in the division.
Tampa Bay comes into this division rivalry 0-4 ATS in its last four games against the NFC South and just 6-21 ATS in its last 27 home games. The total has stayed UNDER in 12 of its last 17 Week 1 games but has gone OVER in four of its last five games overall.
Head-to-head, Carolina is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings. The favorite in this series is 8-1 ATS in the last nine meetings and the total has gone OVER in seven of the last eight meetings in Tampa Bay. The total has also gone OVER in five of the last seven meetings overall.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers (-5) Total Line: 45.5
San Francisco is 14-4-1 ATS in its last 19 games overall and 11-3-1 ATS in its last 15 games against the NFC. The total has stayed UNDER in three of its last five opening-day games and in nine of its last 13 games overall.
Green Bay is 18-7-1 ATS in its last 26 home games and 11-5 ATS in its last 16 games against the NFC. The total has gone OVER in five of its last six games overall but has stayed UNDER in six of its last eight games in Week 1.
The 49ers are 1-9-2 ATS in the last 12 meetings and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four trips to Green Bay. The favorite is 7-3-2 ATS in the last 12 meetings and the total has gone OVER in five of the last seven meetings in Green Bay.
Seattle Seahawks (-3) vs. Arizona Cardinals Total Line: 41
Seattle is just 17-35-2 ATS in its last 54 games on the road. It is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games against the NFC and 9-4-1 ATS in its last 14 games overall. The total has gone OVER in nine of its last 13 games on the road and in 20 of its last 27 games overall.
Arizona has covered the spread in four of its last five games on opening day. It is also 4-1 ATS in its last five games against the NFC West. The total has stayed UNDER in four of those last five Week 1 games, but has gone OVER in 35 of its last 53 home games.
The Seahawks are just 1-5 ATS in their last six trips to Arizona. The home team in this series is actually 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and the total has gone OVER in 11 of the last 16 meetings overall and in the last eight games played in Arizona.
