The MLB betting action continues Friday, June 17, 2022, with the marquee AL East matchup at Yankee Stadium in New York, so here’s the best Blue Jays vs. Yankees betting pick along with the latest odds update on BetDSI Sportsbook

Toronto and New York start a three-game set with Game 10 of their regular-season series. The Yankees won six of their previous nine dates with the Blue Jays and search for their third consecutive victory over Toronto.

The Bombers continue to shine

New York’s Thursday night clash against Tampa Bay has been excluded from the analysis. The 46-16 Yankees were looking to sweep a three-game set against the Rays and extend their winning streak to seven games.

The Bombers have launched a whopping 100 home runs through their first 63 games of the season. They’ve gone 13-1 in their previous 14 outings while scoring 93 runs. The Yankees also boast a 2.45 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in June, and their bullpen has recorded four wins, seven saves, and a 1.97 ERA over the last 16 days and 45.2 innings of work.

Jordan Montgomery will toe the slab Friday and meet the Blue Jays for the second time this season. The 29-year-old left-hander threw five innings of a two-run ball in a no-decision against Toronto on May 2, allowing six hits while striking out five, and the Yanks won 3-2 eventually. Montgomery is 2-1 in 12 starts (66.2 frames) in 2022 and holds a sharp 2.70 ERA and 0.97 WHIP.

The Blue Jays are coming off an embarrassing loss

The Toronto Blue Jays suffered a heavy 10-2 defeat at home on Thursday afternoon and split a four-game series against the only AL East team with a sub-.500 record, the Baltimore Orioles. It’s a disappointing result for the 37-26 Blue Jays, who have been a hit-or-miss lately, going 4-4 in their last eight games overall and 7-6 in the previous 13.

Toronto boasts the second-highest OPS in the majors in June (.916). Over their last seven contests, the Jays have scored 42 runs on a .322/.358/.519 triple-slash while hitting ten homers and 20 doubles in 264 at-bats. Still, they’ve had a one-run dud at Detroit and that two-run display against Baltimore at home.

Ross Stripling will toe the rubber Sunday and face the Yankees for the second time in 2022. He tossed four runs of a two-run ball in that 3-2 defeat at Rogers Centre on May 2, surrendering six hits and punching out three. Stripling is 3-1 with a 3.14 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in seven starts and eight relief appearances (43 frames) this season.

Trends:

NY Yankees:

  • N/A

Toronto:

  • 11-6 in the last 17 games at home
  • 6-0 in Ross Stripling’s last six appearances

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Pick

The Yankees are a better team than the Blue Jays, but Toronto stands a chance in this game. The Jays’ lineup is full of righties, so Jordan Montgomery will have a really tall task to keep them quiet. Toronto sports a 131 OPS+ and a .282/.361/.464 against the southpaws in 2022.

Ross Stripling will have a difficult job, too. The Yankees have a 118 OPS+ against the righties this season, and I’ve mentioned their home run record. It seems the totals are a way to go in this matchup.

Pick: Take Toronto Blue Jays

The Total:

The Blue Jays’ offense has a nice opportunity for a bounce-back performance. Bo Bichette is 6-for-11 with a couple of doubles and home runs against Jordan Montgomery. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is 3-for-9 with a homer, while Santiago Espinal and Goerge Springer have combined for seven gits in 18 at-bats versus Montgomery.

On the other side, Ross Stripling hasn’t allowed a single run over his last three outings and 13.2 frames of work. That will change on this date with the Yankees. Give me the over on the totals even though New York’s bullpen did a great job in the first half of June.
