The MLB betting action goes on with a 16-game Tuesday card, so we are taking a closer look at the AL East showdown from Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, to get you the best Yankees vs. Blue Jays betting pick and odds.

According to BetOnline Sportsbook, the Blue Jays are -135 moneyline favorites. The Yankees are listed as +125 road underdogs, while the totals sit at 8.0 runs. New York and Toronto split a four-game set at Yankee Stadium in April, while the opening contest of this three-game series has been excluded from the analysis.

The Yanks entered May riding a nine-game win streak

The New York Yankees swept a three-game road series against the Kansas City Royals over the weekend. They improved to 16-6 on the season, entering the Blue Jays series with the best record in the majors. The Yanks were a game and a half ahead of Toronto and four games above Tampa Bay in the AL East.

New York’s offense was terrific in the opening month of the 2022 season. The Yankees blasted 31 home runs and 34 extra-base hits while slashing .249/.327/.425. Anthony Rizzo slugged nine dingers and drove 21 runs home; Aaron Judge smacked eight homers on a .300 batting average, while Giancarlo Stanton added four home runs and 14 RBIs.

On the pitching side of things, the Yankees recorded the second-lowest ERA in baseball (2.72). Jameson Taillon will get the nod Tuesday at Rogers Centre, and the 30-year-old righty has done a decent job thus far. He’s 1-1 with a 3.26 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 17/2 K/BB ratio in four starts (19.1 innings) in 2022.

Taillon met the Jays in his season debut and was charged for a loss in a 3-0 defeat at home. Jameson yielded a couple of earned runs on five hits and whiffed six across five innings of work. Last Thursday, Taillon tossed 4.2 frames of a two-run, seven-hit ball in a 10-5 home victory to the Baltimore Orioles.

The Blue Jays aim for their sixth straight series victory

After splitting a four-game series against the Yankees earlier in the season, the Toronto Blue Jays have won six in a row. They’ve defeated Boston and Houston twice along with a 2-1 victory over Oakland in a three-game home set.

Last Sunday, the Jays beat the Astros 3-2 to clinch a three-game home series. Bo Bichette hit his third home run of the season, while Kevin Gausman fanned ten across seven innings. The Blue Jays were tied with the Yankees for the most home runs in the majors (31), but their pitching staff carried a 3.68 ERA (tied-17th in the MLB).

Alek Manoah will toe the slab Tuesday, searching for his fifth consecutive win in 2022. The 24-year-old righty boasts a 1.44 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 25/7 K/BB ratio in four starts (25 innings). He dominated the Red Sox last Thursday, throwing seven scoreless frames while yielding only three hits and a walk. Manoah met Jameson Taillon and the Yankees on April 11. Alek gave up one hit and issued four free passes while striking out seven.

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Pick

The Yankees’ bullpen is certainly better than the Blue Jays’, but Alek Manoah has dominated New York throughout his young career. The current Yankees are 8-for-49 with zero home runs and extra-base hits against Manoah. On the other side, the current Blue Jays are hitting .235/.277/.399 with three homers and a pair of doubles in 51 at-bats against Taillon.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is 3-for-9 with a home run against Jameson; Bo Bichette has three hits in ten at-bats, and both George Springer and Matt Chapman went yard against Taillon. If Manoah continues to impress, the Blue Jays should come out on top.

Pick: Take Toronto Blue Jays at -135

The Total:

Although both teams are mashing the ball, this game could easily go under an 8-run line. As I’ve mentioned, Alek Manoah has been outstanding so far this season, while Jameson Taillon hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in each of his previous four starts in 2022.

The Yankees’ relievers own a sharp 2.58 ERA and 3.11 FIP. On the other side, the Blue Jays’ bullpen has a 3.71 ERA and 3.62 FIP.

Pick: Go under 8.0 runs at -110
