An American League battle begins Monday night when the New York Yankees (32-23, 13-10 away) visit the Seattle Mariners (28-25, 16-13 home). Both teams have started to get it go of late and this could be a preview of what’s to come in October. Below is my MLB pick for the New York Yankees vs Seattle Mariners.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -134
This game will be played at T-Mobile Park at 9:40 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2023.
✅ Seattle is finally getting it going and have won six of their last seven games played.
✅ At home, the Mariners have won four of their last five in T-Mobile Park.
✅ New York has struggled against Seattle having lost four of their last five meetings.
New York went on a quick midweek slump, but they ended their weekend with some momentum. Hosting the San Diego Padres, the Yankees won the last two games of the series to win the series and get some momentum as they prepare to go out West. The Yankees are third in the AL East and are seven games back of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Domingo German is set to make his 10th start of the season and he has been solid. German has posted a 3.75 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 48.0 innings pitched.
Aaron Judge has been mashing this season and he leads the Yankees with 15 home runs and 35 RBIs. Anthony Rizzo has a team high .304 batting average.
The Seattle Mariners Are Fining Their Stride
Seattle has enjoyed their easy schedule over the past week. The Mariners started the week sweeping Oakland over four games and then ended the week by winning two of three against the slumping Pirates. Seattle is third in the AL West and 5.5 games back of the first place Texas Rangers.
Bryce Miller is going to make his sixth start of the year and he has been brilliant. Miller has posted a 1.15 ERA and 0.51 WHIP in 31.1 innings pitched.
Jarred Kelenic has been a bright spot offensively as he leads Seattle with 10 home runs and a .278 batting average. Eugenio Suarez has knocked in a team high 34 runs.
