The 2022 MLB season goes on Saturday, May 14, with plenty of interesting markets to choose from, so we bring you the best Yankees vs. White Sox betting pick along with the latest odds update on BetOnline Sportsbook

The Yanks and Chi Sox continue their four-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. New York won the opener 15-7, while Friday night’s clash has been excluded from the analysis. The Yankees are -140 moneyline favorites for the third contest of the series, and the totals sit at 8.5 runs.

The Bombers destroyed the White Sox in Game 1

The New York Yankees improved to 23-8 on the season following that 15-7 dismantling of the White Sox this past Thursday. Luis Gil yielded four earned runs across four innings in his season debut, but the Yanks destroyed Dylan Cease and his relievers.

Giancarlo Stanton homered twice and drove six runs home, while Aaron Judge and Josh Donaldson went yard once. Judge and Stanton have already combined for 20 dingers and 54 RBIs.

Jordan Montgomery will toe the slab Saturday, searching for his first win in 2022. The 29-year-old left-hander is 0-1 with a strong 2.90 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in six starts and 31 innings of work. Montgomery has allowed two earned runs in each of his previous three outings. Last Sunday, he threw six frames in a no-decision against Texas, allowing four hits and striking out five.

The White Sox had a meltdown on the mound

The Chicago White Sox dropped to 15-15 on the season following Thursday’s heavy loss to the Yankees. Dylan Cease fanned 11 across four frames of work, but he also yielded six earned runs on six hits and a couple of walks. Joe Kelly surrendered a whopping five earned runs in the top of the eighth to round up a terrible night on the mound for Chicago’s pitching staff.

On the other side of the ball, Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu, and Yasmani Grandal all went hitless, while Luis Robert was 1-for-5. The Chi Sox desperately need more from their offense that ranks 24th in the majors in runs scored per game (3.63) and 25th in OPS (.638).

Dallas Keuchel will take the mound Saturday, aiming for his second straight win. Last Sunday, the 34-year-old southpaw threw six innings in a 3-2 victory at the Boston Red Sox, allowing two earned runs on eight hits and a walk. Keuchel is 2-3 with a bloated 6.86 ERA, 2.09 WHIP, and 5.45 FIP in five starts and 21 frames of work.

Trends:

NY Yankees:

  • 16-2 in the last 18 games overall
  • 6-1 in the last seven games on the road
  • 9-2 in the last 11 games against the American League

Chi Sox:

  • 1-8 in the last nine games against the Yankees

New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox Pick

It’s tough to bet against the red-hot Yankees, who own the best record in the majors and have won 16 of their previous 18 contests. The White Sox are very dangerous when hitting against the lefties, but the Yankees have done a superb job against the southpaws thus far, so I’m backing the visitors to win.

New York’s bullpen has been outstanding over the last 12 days, posting a 2.04 ERA and 2.67 FIP to go with six relief wins. On the other side, the Chi Sox’s bullpen has registered a 4.46 ERA and 4.22 FIP during that span.

Pick: Take New York Yankees at -140

The Total:

The Yankees are slashing .243/.314/.461 with 16 home runs in 304 at-bats against the left-handed pitchers, posting the third-highest OPS in the majors. The White Sox are right behind them in OPS with a .255/.327/.426 triple-slash. They’ve smacked seven dingers in 188 at-bats against the lefties.

Hereof, I’m backing the over on the totals. If you prefer player props, keep your eyes on Giancarlo Stanton, who’s 4-for-9 with a couple of no-doubters against Dallas Keuchel. Josh Donaldson also had two dingers in 36 at-bats against Keuchel. The current White Sox are 11-for-40 with zero homers against Jordan Montgomery.

Pick: Go over 8.5 runs at +105
