The New York Yankees and the Houston Astros will lock horns in the game 1 of the ALCS on Friday night in Houston. Masahiro Tanaka will get the nod for the Yankees while on the other side, the Astros will start Dallas Keuchel as their pitcher. The Astros, who are favored by the bookies in this contest, have seen more success during the regular season, winning the series with 5-2. The majority of fans expect the Yankees to get trashed in the series against the Astros, but Joe Girardi and his team will do whatever it takes to upset all, once again.
The game one will take place at the Minute Maid Park in Houston on Friday night with the first pitch scheduled to be thrown on 8:00 PM EST.

New York Yankees
The New York Yankees will look to prove everyone wrong, once again, hoping to upset the Houston Astros in the ALCS series on Fridays night. The Yankees trailed the Cleveland Indians with 2-0 but Joe Girardi’s boys managed to fight their way back in the series, closing it out with a 5-2 win in game 5.
Didi Gregorius was the man of the match in game 5 win over the Cleveland Indians with two homers and .236 batting average, along with three RBIs. For the season, Gregorius is hitting .287, totaling 153 hits. Against the Houston Astros, the Yankees next opponent, Gregorius was quite productive, recording .286 average, along with one HR and 6 RBIs.
Their starting pitcher on Friday, Masahiro Tanaka, will look to continue his strong performance shown against the Indians in game three when he fired seven shutout innings of three-hit ball, which turned out to be the turning point in the Yankees three-game winning streak. Tanaka had a rocky and inconsistent season, which was also evident in his lone start against the Astros when he gave up 8 runs and 4 HR, in a game that the Astros won with 10-7.
As a team, the New York Yankees have walked 616 times on the season, leaving 1184 men on base. The Yankees score 5.3 runs per contest, scoring a total of 858 runs. They are recording 9.0 hits per game which puts them in the 7th place in the league.
The Houston Astros took care of the business against the Boston Red Sox in their opening playoff matchup, advancing with a 3-1 winning record, which includes the 5-4 win this week in which they closed out the series against the Red Sox. Now the Astros will enter the series against the Yankees, well rested and will look to continue their strong play against the team from the Big Apple.
Dallas Keuchel will be the starting pitcher for the Houston Astros. It will be his second start of the postseason. In his first start, against the Red Sox in game 2, Keuchel posted 2.90 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP, along with giving up one run and three hits and 7 strikeouts. In his postseason career, Keuchel is posting 2.29 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP.
The Astros will certainly count on a great performance from Carlos Correa, who had 2 HR and 6 RBIs in the ALDS win against the Red Sox. He was also very dominant against the Yankees pitching this year, hitting 14 of 28 at-bats and recording 10 RBIs.
New York Yankees at Houston Astros Betting Trends and Prediction
The New York Yankees are 86-78-4 against the Over/Under and are 93-75-0 against the run line. In addition, they are 1-5 in their last 5 postseason road games. On the other side, the Houston Astros are 84-73-9 against the Over/Under and are 87-79-0 against the run line. Most notably, the Astros are 5-1 in Keuchels last 6 starts against the Yankees.
The Astros are a huge favorite in this matchup and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them close out the series early. Keuchels form has been terrific against the Yankees, as he posted 1.41 ERA this season. Furthermore, the Yankees Gary Sanchez, Aaron Judge, and Didi Gregorius are only 2 for 16 combined against Keuchel, along with 0 RBIs.
I think that the Astros offense will prevail on Friday and therefore I will go with the Astros in this one.
My Pick: Houston Astros -1.5 (+125)
