An Eastern Conference First Round series heads to game four when the New Jersey Devils visit the New York Rangers Monday night. They say a series doesn’t start until the home team losses, but what do they say when the home team never wins? Below is my NHL pick for the Devils vs Rangers.

New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Betting Pick

The Pick: New York Rangers -148 at BetOnline

This game will be played at Madison Square Garden at 7:00 p.m. on Monday April 24, 2023.

Why Bet the New York Rangers:

✅ New York has been good at home as they have won 12 of their last 18 games at MSG.

✅ Against New York, the Devils have struggled as they have won just five of their last 17 meetings.

✅ The Rangers are too good at home to lose both of these games and they will take a 3-1 advantage Monday night.

New Jersey Devils Look to Even the Series

The Devils may have dropped the first two games of this series at home, but they got themselves back into it with a 2-1 overtime win in game three. It was a tense game all night, but the young Devils were able to keep their cool and avoid going down 3-0. There was no scoring in the first period, but the Rangers got on the board first just 3:39 into the second period. New Jersey tied the game up 10 minutes into the second period and the score remained tied at one until overtime.

It was a tense first 10 minutes of the overtime period, but Dougie Hamilton scored 11:36 into overtime to give the Devils a 2-1 win and life in this series.

Jack Hughes scored a power play goal to join Hamilton on the scoresheet. Hamilton, Jesper Bratt, and Nico Hischier all assisted on the New Jerse goals.

The New York Rangers Hope to Take Control

New York may have lost game three, but they are still in control of this series, and they will have one foot in the second round with a win in game four. All Chris Kreider does is score playoff goals and he extended his franchise record with a goal in the second period of game three. The Rangers could not muster up any more offense and continued the trend of this series with no home teams winning.

Igor Shesterkin stopped 26 of the 28 shots on his goal in the loss.
