NCAA Football Pick: Missouri vs. Kansas State Pick

NCAA FOOTBALL: SEP 05 Massachusetts at Kansas State

The Kansas State Wildcats are in the Top 25 for the first time this year, and they are going to go gunning for yet another win against an AQ school on Saturday when they take on the Missouri Tigers at Bill Snider Family Memorial Field in the Little Apple.

Normally speaking, when we see an unranked team favored over a ranked team, it is the unranked team that is at home. In this case though, the unranked team is on the road, which generally makes us raise our eyebrows. The Tigers have played a rough schedule this year, and they are certainly a lot better than their 2-2 record suggests. Remember that this is a team that only lost by 10 in a close call at the Oklahoma Sooners two weeks ago, and is a team that also only lost by seven in OT at the Arizona State Sun Devils on national television a month ago. RB De’Vion Moore hasn’t been in the fold since that loss at ASU, but he could be back in this one. If he is, he’ll only help out a rushing attack that has the ability to drop 300+ yards on anyone in the land. QB James Franklin is good for 985 passing yards and 260 rushing yards this year, while RB Henry Josey has accounted for 533 rushing yards on a whopping 12.4 yards per carry average. Franklin has picked up a total of 11 TDs against just one pick.

The Wildcats are one of the four teams in the Big XII that are undefeated coming into Week 6, but we aren’t so sure how much longer that is going to last for. There are still games against Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Texas in four consecutive weeks starting at the end of the month, and even if this game is won, we just don’t see how they are going to be sticking around as a Top 25 team through that stretch of games. That being said, for now, these two teams look awfully similar to one another. While Head Coach Gary Pinkel has Franklin to rely on as a dual threat signal caller, KSU counts on QB Collin Klein. Klein has 481 passing yards and 423 rushing yards in just four games, and he has averaged a TD on the ground per game. Though the passing attack isn’t all that great, the running game has put up 217.2 yards per game. Not bad for a team that in the past two seasons has lost QB Josh Freeman and RB Daniel Thomas, eh?

Missouri Tigers @ Kansas State Wildcats Pick: Kansas State is inevitably going to be an awfully, awfully public play, and if that’s the case, we know that we want the other side. The Wildcats are a bit of a farce at 4-0, while Mizzou is the real deal and is a team that we think will finish in the Top 4 in this conference. Lay the points, even on the road against a ranked squad.
