NCAA Football Betting: South Florida @ Pittsburgh Pick

South Florida Bulls

The South Florida Bulls could be tested for the first time this season when they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers on the road at Heinz Field on Thursday Night Football betting action.

The Bulls are up to the No. 14 team in America, but we just don’t know if all of those accolades are truly justified or not. The win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is looking better and better, especially after the Irish took care of these same Panthers just last week right here at Heinz Field, but aside from that, there isn’t a win that has come against a team that is going to even think about going to a bowl game. That being said, USF has taken care of business and done so in a big time way, not just by beating foe, but beating the snot out of them. Case in point: Last week, the team posted at 52-24 beat down of the UTEP Miners, marking the third straight game with at least a 28 point margin of victory. QB BJ Daniels, not nearly known for his passing prowess, has done a nice job this year fending off QB Bobby Eveld as the starter for the Bulls. Daniels has thrown for 1,071 yards and has eight TD passes against just one pick, whereas Eveld has been intercepted three times without throwing a TD pass with just 108 total yards.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are struggling with first year Head Coach Todd Graham, and the possibility is there that this might not even be a season that ends in a bowl game when push comes to shove. Pittsburgh is only 2-2 in what will likely amount to be its final season in the Big East, and it hasn’t even touched the conference schedule yet. The only wins that this team has are against the Buffalo Bulls and Maine Black Bears, and the loss two weeks ago at the Iowa Hawkeyes proved to be one of the biggest collapses that the school has ever seen in football. QB Tino Sunseri just isn’t adapting to the new Pitt offense all that well. He only has four TD passes and 823 passing yards in four games, and he has been picked off four times as well. The defense isn’t helping matters any, and if this unit is allowing 29 points against Maine and 31 to Iowa, we can’t even imagine what USF and its 45.5 points per game average has the ability of doing.

South Florida Bulls @ Pittsburgh Panthers Pick: Here’s the only thing that bugs us, though. Neither one of these teams are truly proven commodities. The Panthers are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 conference games, and they are winners of three in a row both SU and ATS this in this series. We just don’t love the chances that the Bulls have of pulling this one out, so we’re going to go with the hosts by default.
