NCAA Football Betting: Oklahoma Sooners vs. Baylor Bears Pick

(8-2, 5-5 ATS)
(7-4, 5-6 ATS)
It’s a Big XII South elimination game on Saturday night in Waco, and here at Bang the Book, we have all of the analysis you need for the duel between the Baylor Bears and the Oklahoma Sooners.
At times this year, the Sooners look like the best team in college football. Last week was one of those games, as they romped the Texas Tech Red Raiders 45-7. In fact, their three Big XII true home games this year resulted in an aggregate scoring victory of 140-17 and three ATS and SU victories. However, on the road, this is a totally different team. In the four games already played this year outside of Norman, OU has lost twice and failed to cover three of the four times. Offensively though, this team is absolutely a juggernaut. QB Landry Jones has set himself up for one heck of a career if he stays all four seasons at Oklahoma, as he already has over 6,300 passing yards and 53 TDs as just a sophomore. One man that is about to wrap up a fantastic career with the Sooners is RB DeMarco Murray. Murray is just 89 yards away from his first 1,000 yard season, and he is only one TD away from tying his career high in scores from his sophomore campaign. It’s the defense which is shoddy though, as watching the Sooners give up 369.8 yards per game has been painful for a ‘D’ which really, on paper, should be one of the best in the land.
It’s going to take a miracle for Baylor to be able to win the Big XII South at this point, but at least it’s fun to pretend. Just beating the Oklahoma Sooners would wrap up an absolutely phenomenal season for the Baylor Bears. Heck, right now at seven wins with a guaranteed berth in a bowl game, the season has been a huge success, especially considering the fact that they beat the Texas Longhorns in Austin and spent a few weeks ranked in the Top 25. This should be a great sendoff game for RB Jay Finley, who has given everything he’s got to the Baylor cause over these last four years. Finley is already a 1,000 yard back, having rumbled for 1,073 yards and 11 TDs, but this offense would be going nowhere without QB Robert Griffin III. Griffin has thrown for 3,071 yards and rushed for another 508, and he has accounted for 28 scores. This offense has put at least 28 points on the board in all of its duels dating back to September 25th. In fact, the only team to hold the Bears under that threshold was the TCU Horned Frogs, who might have the best team in the country.
If the Bears can get any semblance of a defense going on Saturday night, they have a real chance to pull off this upset. It has been a very nonchalant season for the Sooners through and through, and it would serve them right to be eliminated from the Big XII Championship race in a game like this with Bedlam against the Oklahoma State Cowboys coming up next week.
