Not only are these angles something to watch in the current week that we reveal them, but they are also great to keep in mind for the rest of the regular season. This week we looked for an angle that will be in play multiple times leading up to the rest of the week.
NBA Betting Angle: The Trade Deadline
The NBA regular season is into the second half as the All-Star break is in the rear view mirror. Teams resume play and are all focusing on a run to the NBA playoffs. This is what is referred to as the dog days of the season. Teams that are in the playoffs will jockey for position and teams that are on the outside looking in are fighting to win every night just to be a part of the playoffs. There is one event every year that happens that throws the entire season into turmoil and it takes teams a few days or more to recover.
That event is the trade deadline. The Sacramento Kings were already involved in a trade and although it just involved a player in Marcus Thornton that averages eight points a game, you can tell it affected the team. They came out flat and were blown out against the Golden State Warriors. There are several teams that are in the middle of potential trades that could alter their team completely.
One team to watch is the LA Lakers. Whether it’s Pau Gasol or someone else, the Lakers need to take advantage of their current assets and get some return. They have virtually the entire roster on an expiring deal, and among Jordan Hill, Jodie Meeks, and Steve Blake, there are decent players there that could help a contender. The Lakers will make a move. The Lakers will host the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets this weekend and they will be a fade in both of those games.
The Pacers could make a deal. They obviously have an issue with Danny Granger, and there are major pros and cons to dealing him versus keeping him. The issue with Granger actually hurts the team and if they do party with him, the Pacers will be a play this weekend against lowly Milwaukee.
Keep an eye on the trade deadline because it will affect the teams involved in one way or another.
