After starting off the season with a win, we’ve dropped the last two, as the Suns did the one thing I mentioned I was afraid of, reverted back to their old run-and-gun style after getting behind. Once again, a smaller schedule in the NBA tonight, with a couple of decent contests.
LA Lakers at Washington: The Wizards opened 9.5 and 220 and the line has climbed slightly to 10.5 and 220.5. The Lakers played at Boston last night and lost, both of which have seen them in slight over situations since the start of last season, although the Wizards are coming off a loss, and have had a tendency to play better defense after a defeat. I have this one Washington 116-107, so will stay away from this one completely.
New Orleans at Toronto: We’ve seen decent movement in this game from the opening number, as Toronto opened 4.5-point favorites with a total of 217.5 and the line is now Toronto -5 with a total of 214.5. My numbers have the Raptors winning 111-103 so too close for comfort on the total to make much of a stand.
Cleveland at Houston: The Rockets are favored by 5.5 with a total of 228, while I have Houston winning 117-116. The Rockets have been just .500 when playing against totals of 227.5 and higher since the start of last season, although all games have went over the total 58.6% of the time. Both teams are coming off wins, which has seen them go over more often that not in their next game.
Philadelphia at Sacramento: Definitely not the most exciting game on tonight’s schedule, as the 76ers are favored by 6.5 with a total of 206. I have Philadelphia winning 106-103. Sacramento is coming off a victory and they’ve been a pretty good under team following a win, so a game I’ll stay away from.
Oklahoma City at Denver: The Thunder are favored by 1 and the total here is 214, which is a bit low by Denver’s standards, although the Nuggets are just 7-9-1 in home totals when the number is less than 215 dating back to the start of last season. The Thunder have been even more pronounced when they play to such a low total on the road, going 9-21 over the same same time span. My numbers have Denver winning 111-105, but going to go against them a little bit and will tab the under in this game, as the trends are a little too tough to ignore and the numbers are still sorting themselves out at this point of the season.
