NBA Sports Betting Picks: Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz

The Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz game will not mean much to either side so it is almost assured that a shootout will ensue. The Nuggets have been running and gunning for the last week and the Jazz are still putting up a fight.

The Nuggets have been red hot on the offensive end of things led by Ty Lawson. Lawson had shot 10-for-10 from 3-point range entering the waning seconds of the third quarter of Saturday’s 130-106 home win over Minnesota. The NBA record for most 3-pointers in a game without a miss is nine.

But Lawson threw up a desperation heave from just behind the 3-point arc at the third-quarter buzzer. It missed, and Lawson went on to finish the night 10-for-11.

But Lawson wasn’t the only one hot from beyond the arc. The Nuggets broke a team record for 3-pointers made in a game by shooting 19-for-38. Guard J.R. Smith was the next hottest guy, shooting 6-for-13.

Lawson also had seven rebounds and six assists, but he fell short when it came to breaking the NBA record for most 3-pointers in a game without a miss. It’s still held by New York guard Latrell Sprewell, who went 9-for-9 in 2003 against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Nuggets carried that momentum into a blowout of the Golden State Warriors and now will face the Utah Jazz.

The Nuggets (49-31), who need one win in their final two games or one loss by both New Orleans and Portland to clinch the No. 5 seed, are most likely to face Oklahoma City (53-26), which now holds down No. 4. But the Thunder is one game behind No. 3 Dallas (54-25) and holds the tiebreaker if the teams finish with the same record.

The Denver Nuggets are playing playoff basketball right now as they are fighting for positioning. The Utah Jazz have given up on the season and this will be a blowout for the Nuggets.
