In this Stock Watch article, we are going to break down four teams who should be on your radar list heading into this week of betting on basketball.
On The Rise
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs were recently defeated by the Miami Heat in a nationally televised game. The Spurs are a veteran team that is never fazed by a regular season loss, but then a stat was unveiled showing the Spurs recent struggles against the elite teams in the league. That is exactly the kind of motivation that a team like this will thrive on. So far this season the Spurs are a lackluster 22-22 against the spread (ATS) but that is about to change. With upcoming games against the Rockets, Bulls and Kings, look for the Spurs to be focused before going on a nine game road trip.
The Brooklyn Nets are slowly recovering from a slow start and are doing it quietly. They have won eight of the last ten and currently hold the seventh spot in the playoff race. They are just 21-22 ATS and will see a turnaround for basketball bettors that back them in the near future.
On the Decline
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder had a spot in our “on the rise” column a week ago and now they are “on the decline” why did they fall? It’s simple they have lost value. Kevin Durant is making headline news for his streak of 30 points or more in consecutive games and the Thunder have won eight in a row. Because of this streak the odds are inflated and that is starting to catch up with this team. They are overvalued and that will put the Thunder in a fade spot. With a three game road trip against Miami, Brooklyn and Washington look for the Thunder to be a regular fade.
After getting swept by the Memphis Grizzlies it is quite obvious that the Houston Rockets are struggling right now. They are inconsistent on offense and getting beat on the boards. After a quick start to the season this team is headed for a correction and it all starts with the game against the Spurs. Jeremy Lin is in a bad slump and James Harden has a bad thumb. That all equates to a bad stretch for the Rockets.
