In all of our Stock Watch articles, we are going to break down four teams who should be on your radar list heading into this week of betting on basketball.
On The Rise
If there was any doubt about the Miami Heat still being a great team that all but vanished with the recent run that this team has been on. The Heat have won eight games in a row and have won 9 of the last ten games overall. LeBron James is playing his best basketball of the season as he notched a career high 61 points in a game against the Charlotte Bobcats. A game against the Houston Rockets should not slow them down as Miami has taken seven straight in the series and is 17-4 against Western Conference opponents.
Once considered a lost cause, the Brooklyn Nets are back in the playoff race. They have won three straight games and have won 7 of the last ten games overall. They are making some distance between the teams fighting over the 7 and 8 seeds as they sit comfortably in the six spot. In fact, at this pace the Nets still have a legitimate shot at over taking the Toronto Raptors for the top spot in the division. Kevin Garnett is dealing with back injuries and the team is still finding a way to win. The Nets are a team to watch.
On the Decline
New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans are destined for the NBA lottery and now after a major injury they have fallen into a serious slump. They have lost eight straight and are dealing with several injuries to include a shoulder issue with center Anthony Davis and a herniated disc for Ryan Anderson. For any NBA bettor brave enough to back this team there is a good chance that your account will go bottom up. The Pelicans are 0-6-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 7 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game and 1-8-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Pelicans are a team to be avoided for the remainder of the year.
The Atlanta Hawks are having trouble flying nowadays. They have lost three games in a row and only managed one win in the last ten games. With a long west coast road trip in progress, the Hawks should fall out of the playoffs and are a team to stay away from.
