NBA Playoff Betting Free Picks: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns G3
- Updated: May 23, 2010
#1 Los Angeles Lakers
#3 Phoenix Suns
Los Angeles Leads Series 2-0
After watching the Orlando Magic fall behind the in the Eastern Conference Finals three games to none on Saturday night, the Phoenix Suns will look to avoid that same fate on their home court on Sunday as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. Phoenix was dominated in the first two games of this series in Tinseltown, and now it must bounce back in order to avoid putting itself into a pit that no team in NBA history has ever worked out of.
The Lakers have really put the pressure on the Suns in this series by beating them at their own game. Los Angeles has shot 58 percent from the field in both of the first two games. G Kobe Bryant’s streak of 30+ point scoring games in the playoffs was snapped at six in Game 2 of this best-of-seven set, but scoring 21 points and dishing out 13 assists in nothing to be ashamed of. Even though many felt as though Phoenix had a chance to compete on the boards with the Lakers, especially with a healthy C Robin Lopez back in the starting lineup, that just hasn’t been the case, as the hosts held at least a +5 rebounding advantage in both games Staples Center.
Phoenix is going to have to get tougher on the inside and play at least some sort of defense in order to get back in this series. The Suns haven’t had scoring issues, as generally, getting to 219 points in two games should be enough to, at bare minimum, warrant a split. G Steve Nash really needs to pick it up and stop turning the ball over. His five turnovers in Game 2 were costly, especially the three in the fourth quarter that promptly led to eight LA fast break points. Getting C Amare Stoudemire going on the glass is going to help as well, as he only has nine total rebounds in this series. G Jason Richardson scored 27 points in Game 2, marking the first time in these playoffs that he reached the 20+ point plateau that the Suns lost either SU or ATS.
We hoped in Game 2 that the Lakers were going to cool down from the field. We failed miserably. However, just like with Orlando, we are going to go back to the well and asking for the team that is down 0-2 to not give up and to try to claw back into the series. Phoenix should be in line for some more “magic” at home than the Magic were on the road.
