NBA Finals Picks: Miami Heat vs. Dallas Mavericks Game 3 Live
- Updated: June 4, 2011
After having all of the momentum in the NBA Finals through the first game and 40 minutes of Game 2, the Miami Heat are now officially on the ropes, as they blew a 15 point lead in the last seven minutes three nights ago to level the championship series at a game apiece. The Dallas Mavericks can take one step closer to redemption by winning Game 3 of NBA Finals betting action.
The Mavericks really cranked up the defense against the Heat over the course of that last seven minutes or so on Thursday night. Head Coach Erik Spoelstra knows that his team really let one get away, and now, the task is going to be very, very difficult. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were seemingly having a dunk fest at the outset of that game, and things looked to be going Miami’s way for a second straight easy victory. There’s no doubt that the Heat have the better team, but they just cannot have lapses like the one that they did at the end of Game 2, especially here in Dallas, or they’re going to be in a heck of a lot of trouble. James and Wade did shoot the ball well, mostly because of all of the dunks and layups at the outset of the game, as they ended a combined 21-of-35 from the floor. Chris Bosh was a killer though, as he went just 4-of-16, making him 9-of-34 for the series, one of the worst shooting percentages on the team.
Even if Dirk Nowitzki doesn’t end up leading the Mavs to a title this year, we tend to believe that he has been validated as a legitimate star, and he is certainly the best thing to ever grace the sports scene here in Big D, save for a few of the Dallas Cowboys. Nowitzki’s final stats on Thursday night aren’t all that impressive. He went 10-of-22 from the floor, knocked down just one three point basket, and scored just 24 points. However, he also had 11 rebounds, and he had just a massive last few minutes of the game. He scored nine straight Mavs points down the stretch to give Dallas its first lead of the game after getting blown away by Miami for the better part of three quarters. This is a man that has always gotten a bad rap for not being able to finish games. This is the second time in the playoffs in which he has really done an impeccable job finishing things off, and he has now led two epic comebacks. The one against the Oklahoma City Thunder broke their backs. The hope is that this one can break Miami’s.
Miami Heat vs. Dallas Mavericks Pick: Dirk and the gang remember what happened the last time the Heat were on this court in the NBA Finals. They were celebrating their fourth straight win to win the title. That grit runs deep into the souls of Mavericks fans everywhere, and you can bet that Dallas is going to come out and give the Heat everything they could ask for in Game 2. Make your NBA Finals picks on the Mavericks -2.5.
