NBA Finals Game 7 Betting Preview: Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers
- Updated: June 17, 2010
#4 Boston Celtics
#1 Los Angeles Lakers
Series Tied 3-3
After six grueling contests between two of the best teams that the league has to offer, NBA Finals betting action comes to close on Thursday night in a winner-take-all duel between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers forced this Game 7 after dominating the C’s 89-67 on Tuesday night.
If Boston plans on shooting 33.3 percent from the field, 21.7 percent from downtown, and 60.0 percent from the charity stripe in Game 7, it may as well just go home right now. The bench was particularly woeful for HC Doc Rivers, combining to shoot just 4/26 for the game and scoring just 13 points in spite of the fact that five players were on the court for at least 15 minutes. C Kendrick Perkins only lasted seven minutes before suffering a knee injury that could keep him out of the lineup in the biggest game in his career. The good news that Rivers can fall back upon from Game 6 is that all four of his stars reached double digits in scoring. However, all four are probably going to have to bring significantly stronger games tonight in Game 7 to win the NBA title.
By no means was Tuesday night a dominant one for the Lakers offensively either. G Kobe Bryant scored 26 points in what amounted to be one of the tamer games that he has had in this series, but he did rip down 11 boards for his first double-double of the Finals. F Ron Artest is coming off of his best game in this series as well, connecting on three triples and scoring 15 total points in the NBA playoff betting contest. F Pau Gasol added 17 points, 13 boards, and nine assists in the win. Still, HC Phil Jackson knows that his team cannot shoot 41.8 percent from the field once again to win. Shooting 17/19 from the free throw line really did help matters out quite a bit.
It’s hard to think that Boston could possibly rebound from such a crushing and demoralizing defeat just two nights ago, but this has been a team that has been defying logic all season long. That logic continues to be defied tonight, as the NBA Championship is going to be heading back to Beantown, as Jackson, Bryant, and the Lakers fail to defend their title.
