NBA Betting Trends to Track for Wednesday January 3rd

Last Updated: 2018-01-03

Up to this point it has been a great week of basketball. From close games, to overtime thrillers and players returning to action, this week has been outstanding. It only looks to get better on Wednesday night when the NBA has 12 games on a loaded schedule.

This Wednesday has a slew of basketball betting trends and we have some on many of the big games on the card.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics

The biggest game of the night features Isiah Thomas making his return to Boston after being traded for Kyrie Irving in the off season. The fans will undoubtedly give Thomas a warm welcome for his time spent as a member of the Celtics. Thomas asked the Celtics to hold off on a video tribute for this game. The Celtics have respected his request and will play it at a later date. After the tip-off of this game, the focus will return to LeBron James against Kyrie Irving and whether or not the Celtics are ready to dethrone the Cavs as the best team in the East.

After the quick start many believe that the Celtics could challenge the Cavs, but they have regressed of late, especially against the spread. The Celtics are 1-3-1 ATS in the five games against a team with a winning record. It does not get much better at home where they are just 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight games on the parquet.

The Cavaliers may be playing in a back-to-back spot, but the Cavs get up for big games and they love to play in Boston. In the last four trips to Boston, LeBron and the Cavs are a perfect 4-0 ATS.

Golden State Warriors at Dallas Mavericks

8:30 PM ET

If you have bet on any game involving the Golden State Warriors this season, you know it is important to check out the injury reports. Warriors forward Draymond Green is questionable for this game with a left ankle sprain. Stephen Curry has announced that he will be playing in this game, although he could still be on a minute restriction.

The Warriors have a few things to consider coming into this game. This could be a look ahead for the Warriors, since they play a big game on TNT the next night against the Houston Rockets. The Warriors have proven to have a tendency to look past teams that are not impressive. In the last 33 games against a team with a losing record the Warriors are 9-24 ATS. They are also catching the Mavericks when they are playing their best basketball of the year.

The Mavericks are on a four game winning streak to include three straight road games. Those impressive wins were against some quality teams like the Indiana Pacers, New Orleans Pelicans and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

They are getting incredible production from rookie Dennis Smith Jr. he had his first career triple-double against the Pelicans and will be a player to watch in this game. Because of his play and the overall good play from the Mavericks, this is a team to watch in the near future. This of course includes tonight against the Warriors.

The Mavericks have covered four straight overall and they have covered five of the last six games at home. They are also well rested with two days off before this game. They are 4-1 ATS with two days off and they are also 7-2 ATS in the last nine games coming off a straight up win. Finally, the Mavericks play very well against a team from the Western Conference as they are 10-2 ATS in the last 12 outings.

It’s never fun to bet against a team with as much talent as the Warriors have, but right now the Mavericks are a tough team to beat.
