Chicago are coming into this match after destroying Colorado by 0-3 at home on Wednesday. They will now be traveling to D.C., where they will be hosted by DC United on Saturday, May 20th. DC United are coming off back-to-back losses at home, and they will be looking to return to winning ways against one of the league’s weakest teams on the road.
DC United (3-5-2) are coming off an embarrassing 4-0 loss at home against the Philadelphia Union. Their opponents took the lead at the 39th minute, before DC United were left with 10 men at the 55th, making their opponents’ work way easier. Philadelphia managed to score 3 more goals for the final 4-0 triumph. That was DC United’s second consecutive loss, as prior to that they had fell by 1-0 to Montreal at home. They are now sitting at the 10th spot of the Eastern Conference with 11 points, having scored just 9 goals against 18 conceded. They have been quite mediocre at home so far (2-3-1), where they have only defeated NYCFC and Philadelphia by 1-2. They will be coming into this match with a handful of absences, as Vincent, Klenofky, Nyarko and DeLeon are all still injured, while Buescher is still listed as questionable to participate.
On the other hand, Chicago (5-3-3) are coming into this match after recording a massive 0-3 win at home against Colorado on Wednesday. They took the lead at the 15th minute with Nicolics, before Accam doubled their lead at the 57th minute. Colorado tried to make a come-back, but they conceded the 3rd goal at the 74th minute that ended their hopes for a successful result. That was Chicago’s second consecutive win, as prior to that they demolished the Sounders by 1-4 at home. They are now sitting at the 4th spot of the Eastern Conference with 18 points, having scored 20 goals against 15 conceded. They have appeared weak on the road once again this season (0-3-2), where they have only held Columbus and the Galaxy to draws, but have lost to the Red Bulls, Toronto and Atlanta. They will be making this trip with just a few injury concerns, as Goossens and Bava are injured, while Harrington and Juninho are still listed as questionable to participate.
DC United have been stronger in this venue over the years (15-10-6), but they have been dominant since 2012, having lost just once (5-1-1) while also coming off 4 consecutive wins. DC United are coming off back to back losses at home, but playing against a Chicago side who are weak on the road should really give them a good boost to return to winning ways.
Prediction : DC United -0.5 (+102).
