MLB Trends for Series Starting 5/10
- Updated: May 10, 2013
Baltimore has caught up with the Red Sox and tied things up at the top of the AL East standings. San Francisco has overtaken Colorado at the top of the AL West. The Cardinals now have the best record in baseball, but there isn’t any single team that is running away from the rest of the field at this point.
After a slow start, Cleveland has now 10 of their last 11 games. They’ll face off against the Detroit Tigers in a big AL Central series this weekend. Toronto will take on Boston as the Blue Jays look to find a way to get back in the AL East race. Colorado travels to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals. There are some interesting matchups this weekend.
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this weekend.
-Toronto has been strangely successful at Fenway Park recently. Fenway is a tough place for visiting teams to play, but the Blue Jays are 6-0 in their last 6 games at Fenway. Can they keep that streak going? It won’t be easy as they must face both Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz in this weekend series.
-Every time you think the Los Angeles Angels have a great chance to get back on track, they find a way to screw it up. The Angels are 1-10 in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record. They are 5-16 in their last 21 road games. They’ll take on the White Sox in Chicago this weekend.
-Milwaukee has been playing well of late, but they haven’t had any luck in Cincinnati over the past few years. The Brewers are 7-20 in their last 27 games at Cincinnati. Yovani Gallardo starts the first game of the series for Milwaukee. The Brewers are 1-7 in Gallardo’s last 8 road starts against the Reds.
-Oakland has beaten the teams they are supposed to beat. The Athletics are 44-13 in their last 57 games against teams with a losing record. The Athletics are also 4-0 in their last 4 games in Seattle.
-Totals bettors might want to keep an eye on that Rockies vs. Cardinals series in St. Louis this weekend. The ‘under’ is 22-8-1 in the last 31 games between these two in St. Louis.
-The New York Yankees can’t be too sad to be visiting Kansas City this weekend. The Yankees are 69-28 in their last 97 games in Kansas City. The Yankees are 24-7 in their last 31 Friday games overall.
-Not surprisingly, the Texas Rangers have been dominant of late against the Houston Astros. The Rangers are 12-3 in their last 15 games in Houston. They are 35-17 in the last 52 meetings overall. Houston is 33-88 in their last 121 games.
-The ‘over’ is 23-8-3 in the last 34 meetings between the Miami Marlins and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Both of these offenses have been struggling to put up runs of late. Will they be able to help each other start hitting the ball this weekend?
-The New York Mets just can’t seem to hit left-handed pitching. The Mets are 10-22 in their last 32 games against a lefty. They’ll face two pretty good ones on Thursday and Friday when the Pirates start Jeff Locke and Wandy Rodriguez.
