MLB Trends for Series Starting 8/12 and 8/13
- Updated: August 12, 2013
The Texas Rangers have retaken the lead in a very exciting AL West race, but the Oakland Athletics are just a single game behind. Boston has pulled back ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays after the Rays hit a major speed bump in Los Angeles against the scorching hot Dodgers this past weekend.
Detroit has taken control of the AL Central, but the Royals and the Indians are still in position to fight for a Wild Card spot. The Astros still have the worst record in baseball, but the Chicago White Sox aren’t too far behind.
The Pittsburgh Pirates face the St. Louis Cardinals in the biggest series of the week. Pittsburgh is coming off a surprising three-game losing streak thanks to a bad series at Coors Field. Can they right the ship in St. Louis or will the Cardinals climb closer in the NL Central?
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.
-Detroit is 38-14 in their last 52 games against the White Sox. The Tigers will be in Chicago for a three-game series this week. The White Sox are 4-10 in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record.
-The San Francisco Giants are 0-5 in their last 5 games in Washington. They are in Washington for a three-game series starting Tuesday night. Both of these teams have been a big disappointment so far this year.
-The under is 7-0-1 in Bruce Chen’s last 8 starts for the Kansas City Royals. He’ll be in a pitcher’s duel against spectacular rookie starter Jose Fernandez of the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.
-Pittsburgh is 7-3 in their last 10 games in St. Louis. Not many teams have been able to win in St. Louis over the past couple years, but the Pirates have had a nice run of success at Busch Stadium. Pittsburgh is 6-1 in their last 7 meetings overall against St. Louis.
-The Phillies are 0-6 in their last 6 road games against a team with a home winning percentage of better than 60%. That’s bad news for the Phillies as they must face the team with the best home record in baseball this week. Atlanta is 40-16 at home in 2013.
-Seattle is 3-12 in their last 15 games at Tampa Bay. They are in Tampa for a three-game series against the Rays this week. Tampa Bay will look to get back on track after getting beat around in Los Angeles.
-The Houston Astros are 2-16 in their last 18 games against the Oakland Athletics. The over is also 12-4 in the last 16 games between these two teams.
-The Colorado Rockies are 0-7 in their last 7 Tuesday games. What is about Tuesday? Colorado is 10-3 in their last 13 games against the Padres though, and they’ll be hosting the Padres this Tuesday.
-Toronto is 1-11 in their last 12 home games against a team with a winning record. They’ll have to face the AL East leading Boston Red Sox at home this week.
