MLB Trends for Series Starting 8/2
- Updated: August 2, 2013
Before the season, many believed the AL East and the NL East would be the two most competitive divisions in baseball. The AL East is as competitive as ever, but the NL East has turned into an Atlanta Braves landslide. The Dodgers have jumped out to a 2.5 game lead in the NL West. Cleveland keeps hanging around in the AL Central. The Pirates are stunning the world at the top of the NL Central. Oakland’s pitching staff has them sitting first in the AL West.
A lot of interleague play on the schedule for this weekend. Still, the biggest series’ will be the ones between the Athletics vs. Rangers and the Cardinals vs. Reds. Those two series will have a lot to do with who makes the playoffs and who sits out the postseason at the end of the year.
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this weekend.
-The Baltimore Orioles are 6-0 in their last 6 home games against the Seattle Mariners. Chris Tillman will start Friday in the series opener between these two and he has turned into a nice moneymaker for bettors. The Orioles are 21-7 in Tillman’s last 28 starts. Baltimore is 6-0 in his last 6 home starts.
-The Atlanta Braves have dominated at home this year. Can they find a way to start winning a higher percentage on the road? They’ll be in Philadelphia this weekend, and the way the Phillies are playing it will give the Braves a chance to get some wins on the road. Philadelphia is 1-9 in their last 10 games overall. Cliff Lee has been scratched from Friday’s start.
-Totals bettors will want to keep an eye on the Nationals vs. Brewers series this weekend. The over is 12-3-1 in the last 16 meetings between these two in Milwaukee.

Be cautious with two teams like this matched up against each other.
