MLB Pick: Rockies vs. Phillies

Colorado Rockies (22-18) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (25-16) MLB Betting Lines
Moneyline: Phillies (-140) Rockies (+130)
Starting Pitchers: Rockies (De La Rosa) vs. Phillies (Hamels)
The Colorado Rockies had been in a slump of late, but they took both games from the Giants to get their momentum going in the right direction once again. The Rockies beat Tim Lincecum on Monday, then they scored four times in the eighth inning yesterday to top the Giants 5-3. The Phillies had been playing good baseball, but they have gone the opposite way in the last few days. The Phillies offense has been missing in action and the team has lost four straight games. Can Cole Hamels help them get back on track?
The Rockies had trouble winning on the road last year, but this year they are 11-8 away from Coors Field. The Rockies are just 7-19 in their last 26 games at Philadelphia. The Rockies face a red hot Cole Hamels, which will be a tough task. Jorge De La Rosa has pitched well for Colorado all year, and the Rockies hope he can pitch deep into the game and save their tired bullpen in this one. Troy Tulowitzki has 11 home runs already this year and Todd Helton is having a huge bounce back year. Carlos Gonzalez started off slowly, but he is starting to put it together over the last week or so.
Philadelphia has been getting solid pitching outings, but the offense is struggling mightily of late. They have certainly faced some tough pitchers, but the fact that they have scored three runs or less in five of their last eight games just isn’t acceptable for a team with this much talent. For the year the Phillies have hit left-handed pitching well, and they’ll have a chance to break out of their slump against the left-handed De La Rosa on Wednesday. Shane Victorino is a key part of this offense and he is expected to be back in the starting lineup Wednesday after missing the last two games.
The Phillies are 47-21 in their last 68 home games. They are also 6-1 in Hamels’ last 7 starts overall. I think the Phillies will right the ship as they return home and get Victorino back in the lineup. I think the Phillies moneyline is a fair price here.
