MLB Betting Trends For Series Starting 8/7 and 8/8

The race in the AL West is a really interesting one. Oakland has had the best record in baseball for quite some time, but the Angels are right on their heels. It’s rare to see the top two records in baseball both be in the same division. Both of these teams are very good, but it also helps to have Houston and Texas in the division to pad the win column. There are definitely some very interesting matchups on the slate this weekend.

-Washington has created some separation in the National League East, but now they’ll need to find a way to beat the Atlanta Braves. They are in Atlanta for three games this weekend. Atlanta has won four straight at home against the Nationals. Atlanta is 24-9 in their last 33 games against Washington. On the other hand, the Braves come into this game as losers of eight straight games. Keep a close eye on this series.
-Boston doesn’t have much to play for as the season winds down. The Red Sox are 3-11 in their last 14 games. The Angels are 36-15 in their last 51 home games. The Angels are 29-13 in their last 42 games overall. Jered Weaver starts Friday night for the Angels and the Angels are 40-12 in his last 52 home games.
-Detroit and Toronto will meet in a key series this weekend in Toronto. The Tigers are 1-6 in their last 7 road games. The Blue Jays are 1-4 in their last 5 games. Both of these teams need a good series here. The over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two. The Tigers are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
-The Dodgers are 4-0 in their last 4 road games. The Brewers are 7-3 in their last 10 home games. The under is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings between these two. Both the Dodgers and the Brewers are locked in tight battles inside their division.
-The Cardinals and Orioles meet in what should be an intriguing series in Baltimore this weekend. The Cardinals have won four straight from the Orioles, but Baltimore is playing very well of late. The Orioles are 11-4 in their last 15 home games. The under is 36-17-2 in the Orioles last 55 home games.
-The Chicago White Sox are 28-65 in their last 93 road games vs. a team with a winning record. The Mariners are just 2-7 in their last 9 games as a favorite. Jose Quintana takes on Hisashi Iwakuma in a strong pitching matchup Friday. The White Sox are 38-14 in their last 52 games against the Mariners.
-San Diego is playing much better of late. The Padres are 4-1 in their last 5. They are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. a team with a winning record. The Pittsburgh Pirates are without their star Andrew McCutchen. Can the Pirates hold it together and stay in the NL Central race? Pittsburgh is 21-8 in their last 29 as a home favorite. The Padres are 36-15 in their last 51 games at Pittsburgh.
