- Updated: September 9, 2013
The Boston Red Sox took three out of four from the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium this past weekend. That series did two things: it gave the Red Sox a comfortable lead in the AL East, and it made the Yankees chances of reaching the playoffs much lower. Tampa Bay leads the race for the second AL Wildcard spot, but the Orioles and Indians are right on their heels. In the National League, the Cardinals swept the Pirates in a crucial NL Central series. The Reds have also caught fire. Keep a close eye on that division down the stretch.
