MLB Betting Trends for Series Starting 7/31 and 8/1

The calendar is turning over to August. Baseball is the only game in town right now, and the pennant races will heat up as the month moves along. The two best records in baseball are from two teams in the AL West. Oakland has the best record, but the Los Angeles Angels aren’t far behind. Not many could have seen this coming, but the Texas Rangers actually have the worst record in baseball right now.

-Pittsburgh is now in second place in the NL Central. They are only 2.5 games back of the Brewers. The Pirates have been beating the teams they are supposed to beat. Pittsburgh is 16-5 in their last 21 games vs. a team with a losing record. The Diamondbacks are 4-10 in their last 14 vs. a team with a winning record. The Pirates are 4-1 in their last 5 at Arizona.
-Toronto has clawed back into the AL East race. The Blue Jays are 5-0 in their last 5 road games. They are 6-0 in their last 6 as a favorite. They’ll be the favorite a lot this weekend in Houston. The Astros are 2-6 in their last 8 and 31-63 in their last 94 home games.
-The Reds and Marlins enter this weekend’s four-game series with identical records at 53-54. The Reds are reeling without Votto, Phillips, and Bruce. The Marlins have been playing well of late. The Reds are 2-10 in their last 12. The Marlins are 6-1 in their last 7. The Reds are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two, but can they turn it around this weekend?
-The Angels go to Tampa Bay to take on the suddenly hot Rays. Tampa Bay is flirting with contention in the playoff race. The Rays are 20-6 in their last 26 games. The Angels are 25-10 in their last 35 overall. This should be a great series. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings at Tampa Bay between these two.
-Milwaukee and St. Louis match up in a showdown of two teams fighting hard for the NL Central crown. Milwaukee has the lead, but St. Louis is just three games back. The Cardinals made some deadline deals to make their team better. The Brewers are just 18-38 in their last 56 against the Cardinals. The over is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings between these teams.
-The Cubs are just 1-9 in their last 10 games vs. the Dodgers. Chicago is 21-43 in their last 64 road games. The Dodgers are 5-0 in their last 5 games. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
-Kansas City is 6-2 in their last 8, and they are trying to find some more consistency. The Royals will be in Oakland to take on the red hot A’s this weekend. Oakland is 48-23 in their last 71 home games. The A’s are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. the Royals. The under is 12-3-1 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams.
