MLB Betting Trends for Series Starting 5/8 and 5/9
- Updated: May 9, 2014
Earlier this week, I highlighted the crazy NL East standings. The American League East standings are almost as crazy. Baltimore leads the division, but everyone is within 3.5 games. After winning a World Series last year, the Red Sox were clearly the favorites in this division in 2014. The AL East has been a division that has been highly competitive for several years, and this year will be no different.
BangtheBook wants to give you more information to make your baseball bets winning ones this year. We will be posting this MLB trends article two times each week. Expect this article on Monday’s and Thursday’s of each week. This article will highlight trends to consider for this weekend’s series’.
-The Detroit Tigers recent red hot run has given them the best record in baseball. That shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. This Detroit team is absolutely stacked. The Tigers host Minnesota this weekend. Detroit is 13-3 in their last 16 games. Justin Verlander starts for the Tigers on Friday. Detroit is 10-2 in Verlander’s last 12 starts against the Twins.
-Kansas City and Seattle start their series on Thursday night. The Royals are just 1-6 in their last 7 games at Seattle. The Mariners are 5-1 in their last 6 overall, but they are only 5-14 in their last 19 as a home favorite.
-The Cardinals and Pirates meet in Pittsburgh this weekend. St. Louis is just 4-10 in their last 14 games at Pittsburgh. The Pirates are 18-8 after a day off. They are off Thursday before this series starts on Friday.
-The Miami Marlins are 19-7 in Jose Fernandez’s last 26 starts. He starts Friday in San Diego against Tyson Ross and the Padres. For a little fun, check out the extremely low total set on this game! The under is 7-2 in Fernandez’s last 9 road starts. The under is 5-0-1 in Ross’ last 6 home starts.
-Boston and Texas are both 17-17 on the year as of Thursday May 8. Texas got off to a red hot start, but they have been slumping in a big way of late. Boston has started slowly, but they look to be playing better baseball lately. The Red Sox are 0-4 in their last 4 games at Texas. The under is a perfect 7-0 in the last 7 meetings between these two in Texas.
-The Giants and Dodgers have a fantastic rivalry, and it’s been the Giants with the upper hand of late. The Giants are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings between these two, including a 5-1 record in their last 6 game at Los Angeles. The under is 22-10-3 in the last 35 meetings between these teams.
-The Atlanta Braves are 0-7 in their last 7 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Chicago Cubs are 15-45 in their last 60 vs. a right-handed starter. The Cubs are 1-6 in their last 7 games against the Braves. The under is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings between these teams.
-The Angels and Blue Jays meet in Toronto this weekend. The over is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings between these two. The Angels are 7-1 in their last 8 games against the Blue Jays.
-Houston hasn’t been good against anyone lately, but they have been particularly bad against Baltimore. The Astros are 2-10 in their last 12 games against the Orioles, including a 1-8 mark in their last 9 games at Baltimore. Houston is 9-42 in their last 51 games against a team with a winning record.
