Money Line: Philadelphia +120 San Francisco -135
Total Line: 6.5
The Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants wrap-up a three-game set at AT&T Park this Wednesday night. The series finale is slated to get underway at 10:15 p.m. (ET) and it will be available on MLB.TV.
Philadelphia pounded-out an early lead in Monday night’s Game 1 and Roy Halladay held the Giants at bay for a 5-2 win as a 107 road favorite. The win boosted the Phillies record to 5-5 on the year heading into Tuesday night’s game. This followed an 8-2 win over New York this past Sunday, which is a good sign for the Phillies’ struggling offense.
They will have left-hander Cliff Lee on the mound in this one as their starter. He was less than stellar in his last outing; giving-up four earned runs on five hits in seven innings of work. He now has an ERA of 3.46 through his first two starts. Lee is a perfect 4-0 against the Giants with a ridiculous 0.82 ERA in 33 innings pitched.
Monday night’s loss dropped San Francisco to 4-6 on the year overall and 2-2 at home. It already trails the red-hot Los Angeles Dodgers by five full games in the NL West standings heading into Tuesday’s Game 2. The Giants have been productive at the plate through their first 10 games with 84 hits and 45 runs scored.
They will go with Matt Cain as their starter on Wednesday night. He is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in his previous two starts including a nine-inning gem against Pittsburgh his last time out. Cain held the Pirates to just one hit and posted 11 strike-outs in the win. He is 1-4 lifetime against the Phillies with an ERA of 4.17.
The Phillies are 7-3 in their last 10 road games and 6-1 in Lee’s last seven road starts. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 11 of their last 17 games on the road.
The Giants are 1-5 in their last six Game 3’s of a series and 1-4 in their last five games against the NL East. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last nine home games.
Including Monday’s win, Philadelphia is now 5-1 in its last six games in San Francisco and the total has stayed ‘under’ in five of the last seven meetings overall.
The ‘under’ remains the best play in this game with Lee and Cain on the mound, but stick with the Phillies to squeak-out the win as their bats continue to produce. The Free MLB Pick: Philadelphia 3 San Francisco 2
