MLB Betting Analysis August 26, 2017

Last Updated: 2017-08-26

We won’t change anything up for Saturday’s MLB card and do things the same way we’ve done the last two days, while I look for a way to keep our system from going against reverse line moves, which has been the difference between a winning and a losing season.

A surprising small number of early games are on today’s schedule, and plenty of larger favorites which tends to be the case when the end of August and September roll around, as oddsmakers make you pay a little extra for backing teams who need to win.

Mets at Washington: Robert Gsellman has been a huge disappointment this season and he finds himself a huge underdog in this one, as Gonzalez and the Nationals are -210 in a game that hasn’t seen a whole lot of movement.

Cubs at Phillies: The Cubs are now up to -210 with Hendricks over Lively.

Pittsburgh at Cincinnati: The Reds are holding at -120 with Castillo over Cole. The line hasn’t really moved although the Pirates are getting 80% of the wagers, which is likely an indication that at least a few big bettors are on the home team.

Colorado at Atlanta: Was definitely surprised to see New comb open -120 over Freeland and the Rockies have been getting hit hard, although the Braves are still -112.

San Diego at Miami: The Marlins are -110 and getting the majority of the wagers, as Despaigne and Lamet take the mound for their respective teams.

San Francisco at Arizona: Big movement in the direction of Arizona in this one, as Walker is now –118 over Bumgarner.

Milwaukee at Dodgers: Stripling and Dodgers are up to -166 over Davies and the Brewers.

Seattle at New York: The Yankees are -200 with Gray over Gallardo and the slight movement was expected with the Yanks getting three-fourths of the bets.

Minnesota at Toronto: The Jays are -140 with Estrada over Gee in a game that really hasn’t moved.

Baltimore at Boston: The Orioles and Gausman are getting a little play this morning, as Rodriguez is down to -141 after opening -155.

Texas at Oakland: The A’s are drawing some interest, as Hamels and the Rangers are down to -113 after opening -125.

Detroit at White Sox: Rodon and the White Sox are -137 over Farmer and the Tigers in a game where the line has dropped a bit.

Kansas City at Cleveland: The Indians are -151 with Clevinger over Hammel in a game that has seen pretty even betting.

Houston at Angels: Peacock and the Astros are -113 over Skaggs and the Angels in a game that has seen little movement.

Tampa Bay at St. Louis: No line out on this one, which features Snell and Leake as the expected starters.

Plays: Padres Even, A’s +103.
