Missouri Tigers vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys Picks: 2011 College Basketball Picks

Missouri Tigers
(17-4, 8-8 ATS)

Oklahoma State Cowboys
(14-7, 9-6-1 ATS)

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are in dire need of a bit time ‘W’ to get back into the fold for the NCAA Tournament, and Wednesday night provides them with a great opportunity to do just that. The Missouri Tigers are on tap in Stillwater for this great NCAA basketball betting affair.

The Pokes have lost five of their last six games, and the only victory in the bunch was a triumph over the Iowa State Cyclones which really isn’t going to do them all that much good come Selection Sunday. These two home games against the Tigers and the Oklahoma Sooners are crucial, as the race to 21 or 22 wins is definitely on. Okie State just doesn’t pass the eye test as a tourney team, though. Marshall Moses is a great player, but 15.5 points and 8.0 boards per game just isn’t going to be able to carry this team into March Madness. Keiton Page is only shooting 40.8 percent from the field, and he really needs to pick that up if he hopes to bring this team to the dance. The man that is coming on strong is Jean-Paul Olukemi. He has had three games with at least 20 points since January 8th, but he has also had a couple duds in there to boot. He is the third leading scorer at 11.6 points per game, and he is going to have to come on strong to lead the Cowboys to victory.

Missouri was setback by the Texas Longhorns by 13 on the road over the weekend, and it is going to be tested again on the road in this one. This is a team that knows what it is like to get out there and win on the road, but it has yet to accomplish this in the Big XII. The Tigers have lost to the Colorado Buffaloes, Texas A&M Aggies, and now the Longhorns this year outside of Columbia, and that accounts for three of the team’s four losses on the campaign. The offense is really, really strong for this club, averaging 83.7 points per game, but obviously, that loss to the ‘Horns in which they put up just 58 points was a tremendous drop from the norm. Laurence Bowers, one of the team’s top big men, has a head injury that might keep him out of the lineup in this one against Okie State. The Tigers have withstood injuries before because of their depth, as they really do utilize eight players on a regular basis that can all score in double digits. Bowers though, is averaging 5.9 boards and 2.2 blocks per game this year, both high marks on the team.

It’s time for the Tigers to come up with their big road win. The Cowboys just aren’t good enough to win a game like this one, and we tend to believe that their bubble continues to burst this week.
