The sixth ranked team in America is going to be back in action for college basketball betting fans on Tuesday night, when the Louisville Cardinals play host to the Missouri State Bears at the KFC Yum! Center.
Missouri State hasn’t played the most difficult schedule in the world this year, but it is going to be a tough team to gauge if it can play well in the Missouri Valley this season. The Bears legitimately could make their way to March Madness as an at large team, but in the end, winning a game like this would be a huge boost, as unlikely as it seems. The one thing that we know is coming from Missouri State is that it is going to rotate a ton of players in and out of the game. F Jarmar Gulley and G Marcus Marshall are the only two men who are really prolific scorers on this bunch, as they are averaging 13.7 and 13.4 points per game respectively. What’s left aside from that are a bunch of men who are averaging in that 6-8 points per game range, a number which six others fall into. Three others still are averaging at least three points per game, and 12 players average at least 11:30 on the court per night.
The Cardinals have only been beaten once this year, and every time the North Carolina Tar Heels put up a big game like they did this weekend, it helps out their cause. There aren’t many teams in the land who have a point differential this year like Louisville does, as it is outscoring foes by 25.3 points per game. Granted, the schedule hasn’t been all that brutal by any stretch of the imagination, and there have been some hideous games in there where opponents just never stood a chance. Some of the players you’ve come to know and love over the years at the U of L are back, including G Russ Smith, who is averaging 17.2 points per game to lead the team. G Chris Jones and F Montrezl Harrell have really stepped up their games, and they are both double digit scorers at this point, though we know that the vets are the ones who are going to have to step up as the season wears on.
This is one of these games which is impossible to put a line on. You know that the Cardinals are going to win, but the question is by how many points. We really think that the Bears are going to be capable of hanging around possession for possession, though we know in the totality, they are going to get beaten. They won’t embarrass themselves though, as they’ll hang within double digits. Louisville 74 – Missouri State 65
