The 2021-22 college basketball season continues Tuesday, January 11, so we’re taking a closer look at the Atlantic Coast Conference clash from Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee, Florida, to get you the best Miami vs. Florida State betting pick and odds.

The Seminoles are 6.5-point home favorites on Bookmaker Sportsbook, while the totals are listed at 150.5 points. Florida State aims for its eighth straight victory over Miami, so let’s see what’s the best move here, as the Hurricanes are one of the hottest teams in the country.

Miami shoots for its tenth straight W

The Miami Hurricanes stunned the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils 76-74 as 15-point road underdogs this past Saturday. It was their ninth consecutive victory, as the Canes improved to 13-3 straight up and 7-9 ATS on the season.

Senior guard Kameron McGusty scored the winning bucket with 23 seconds left on the clock. Miami turned the ball over only five times while forcing Duke into 17 turnovers to grab a full-deserved victory. McGusty finished with 14 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field, while another senior G Charlie Moore led the way with 18 points and a whopping seven steals.

Miami tops the ACC with a 5-0 record. The Hurricanes are No. 80 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 82 in the latest KenPom rankings. Miami boasts the 24th-best offensive rating in the nation, tallying 113.9 points per 100 possessions.

Florida State won three of its last four games

The Florida State Seminoles improved to 8-5 SU and 5-8 ATS on the season following a 79-70 victory to the Louisville Cardinals this past Saturday. They covered a 5-point spread in front of the home fans to grab their third victory over the last four showings at any location (2-2 ATS).

Sophomore guard Caleb Mills dropped 27 points on Louisville and matched his career-high. He’s led the way for the Seminoles so far this season, posting 13.2 points and 2.7 assists per contest, while freshman G Matthew Cleveland has averaged 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds thus far.

The Seminoles are now 2-2 in the conference play. They sit at the 70th spot of the NCAA NET Rankings and the 46th spot of the latest KenPom rankings. Florida State leans on its defense, allowing 94.3 points per 100 possessions (34th in the country) on 41.9% shooting from the field (154th).

Trends:

Miami:

  • 7-1 ATS in the last eight games against the ACC
  • 8-1 ATS in the last nine outings as underdogs

Florida State:

  • 2-6 ATS in the last eight games overall
  • 1-4 ATS in the last five games against the ACC

Miami vs. Florida State Pick

This is a tough spot for the Hurricanes. Their nine-game win streak is on the line, and the Canes have to forget that huge win over Duke and focus on the Seminoles, who have gone 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last ten meetings with Miami.

The Seminoles could easily put an end to the Hurricanes’ terrific run, but with six and a half points on the table, I have to take the underdogs. Miami is one of the best offensive teams in the country. The Hurricanes should have enough firepower to keep it close, though their defense is yielding 104.4 points per 100 possessions (200th).

Pick: Take Miami +6.5 at -110

The Total:

The Hurricanes heavily lean on their offense. Five of their last six games have gone over the total, while four of their previous five outings have produced more than 153 points in total. On the other hand, the under is 9-0 in Miami’s last nine outings on the road.

Six of the Seminoles’ last nine tilts have gone over the total. Both teams average just below 70 possessions per 48 minutes, so going with the over makes sense. I’ve mentioned the Hurricanes’ leaky defense, but their backcourt will torture the Seminoles.

Pick: Go over 150.5 points at -110
