No.2 Miami Heat vs.  No.7 New York Knicks- Game 3

Pointspread: Miami -4.5

Total Line: 186.5

The Miami Heat head to Madison Square Garden this Thursday night to face the New York Knicks in Game 3 of this first-round best-of-seven Eastern Conference matchup with the Heat holding a two games to none edge. The game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on TNT.

Miami came into this series as prohibitive favorites and nothing that has happened in the first two games will change this fact. The Heat blew New York out by 33 points as nine-point home favorites in Game 1 and covered again as 9.5-point home favorites in Monday night’s Game 2 with a 104-94 win.

Lebron James and Dwyane Wade appear to be just getting warmed up with a combined 95 points in the first two games, but Miami has also done a good job at spreading the ball around with three other players scoring in double figures.

If it is not bad enough that New York has been outscored by 43 points in the first two games of this series, one of its top stars, Amar’e Stoudemire decided to add injury to insult by punching a fire extinguisher case after Game 2 that cut his hand so bad he could be lost for the rest of what appears to be a very short series.

The Knicks only hope to come away with a win in this game rests squarely on the shoulders of Carmelo Anthony, who has averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the first two games. If they can also get a huge effort from Tyson Chandler, who chipped-in 13 points on Monday night and J.R. Smith, who has averaged 15 points in this series, they might just have a chance to win.

Betting Trends

The Heat are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games on the road, but 9-2 ATS in their last 11 playoff games as favorites. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of their last six road games.

The Knicks are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 home games and 8-1 ATS in their last nine games following a SU loss. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their last eight games as home underdogs.

Head-to-head, Miami is 8-2 SU in the last 10 meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in its last five games in New York. The total has stayed ‘under’ in seven of the last nine meetings.

Miami could get caught looking ahead in Game 4, but it remains committed to the task at hand on Thursday night by expanding its lead in this series to three games to none. Miami 96   New York 91
