This is the time of year when friends gather to give thanks for what they have, but the Cleveland Cavalier fans are longing for something they don’t have, LeBron James. When James and the Heat go back to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers, the fans will not be greeting their former super star with boos and negative chants, but instead they will have their arms wide open begging for a return.
The Heat will go into Cleveland for a regular season game, but the story for this meeting will be where LeBron James will be next year. James is set to be a free agent this summer and all the discussion will be whether or not he will want to go back to where it all started in Cleveland.
A group of loyal fans have launched a “Come Home LeBron” campaign, and will begin their courtship of the King on Wednesday night. They’re putting together a rally for the Miami Heat’s trip to Cleveland in hopes of wooing James back home. Rally organizers are passing out 2,000 t-shirts to fans and they will be out in full force for this game. Although James won’t talk about his whereabouts next season, his game is speaking volumes this season on the court.
The four-time NBA MVP is shooting 61 percent from the floor and an amazing 49 percent from 3-point range that also includes 80 percent from the foul line, which puts him on career-best pace in each category. James has shot 65 percent or better five times in Miami’s first 14 games, and will undoubtedly have the heat ready to defend their crown at the end of the season.
The NBA betting trends reveal this as a good spot to back the heat. The Heat are 24-10 against the spread (ATS) in their last 34 road games, 17-7 ATS in their last 24 road games when playing a team with a winning home record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Cavaliers are 2-11 ATS in their last 13 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 125 points in their previous game and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games when playing a team with a winning road record.
The Cavs and their fans may miss LeBron, but right now they will not be happy to see him as he will torch his old team and get a very big win on a very big night.
