The MLB betting action continues Tuesday, June 14, 2022, with the marquee interleague showdown from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, so we bring you the best Angels vs. Dodgers betting pick along with the latest odds update on Bookmaker Sportsbook

The Halos and Blue Crew meet each other for the first time in 2022 and open a two-game series. The Dodgers are listed as -171 home favorites, while the Angels sit at +157 moneyline odds with a total of 9.0 runs.

The Angels lost five straight series

The Los Angeles Angels are coming off a 4-1 defeat to the New York Mets this past Sunday. They dropped a three-game interleague set at home, which was their fifth consecutive series defeat. The Angels fell to 29-33 on the season, laying at the third spot in the AL West.

Mike Trout (groin) returned from his three-game absence last Saturday and belted two home runs in an 11-6 thrashing of the Mets. Trout went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in Sunday’s clash against New York, and the future hall-of-famer is now slashing .293/.392/.634 in 2022. The Angels are scoring 4.39 runs per game (tied-14th in the majors) while surrendering 4.24 in a return (16th).

Noah Syndergaard will take the mound Tuesday, looking to avoid his third straight loss. The 29-year-old right-hander tossed six innings of a one-run ball in a 1-0 defeat to the Boston Red Sox on June 6. On the last day of May, he was obliterated for five runs on seven hits across just 2.1 frames of work in a 9-1 defeat at Yankee Stadium in New York. Syndergaard is 4-4 with a 3.69 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in nine starts (46.1 innings) this season.

The Dodgers hope to snap their three-game skid

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in crisis. They’ve won only four of their previous 13 games overall and are riding a three-game losing streak following a 2-0 defeat at San Francisco this past Sunday. The Dodgers have scored only four runs in a three-game series against the Giants.

Over the last couple of weeks, Los Angeles is slashing only .235/.303/.392 while posting an underwhelming 4.50 ERA. The Dodgers’ bullpen has registered a pedestrian 5.40 ERA, 4.20 FIP, and .311 BABIP in that stretch.

Tony Gonsolin will toe the rubber Tuesday and shoot for his fourth straight win. The 28-year-old righty is 7-0 with a sparkling 1.58 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 11 starts (57 innings) in 2022. Gonsolin has gone 6-0 over his previous seven starts, posting a 1.58 ERA, 3.21 FIP, and .165 BABIP.

Trends:

LA Angels:

  • 2-16 in the last 18 games overall
  • 0-9 in the last nine games on the road
  • 2-5 in Noah Syndergaard’s last seven starts

LA Dodgers:

  • 9-3 in the last 12 games against the Angels
  • 6-1 in Tony Gonsolin’s last seven starts

Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Pick

The Dodgers will win this game if Tony Gonsolin continues to shine. The Angels’ lineup is loaded with dangerous bats, but I’m going with Gonsolin and the Dodgers. Tony holds a terrific .205 expected batting average and .230 wOBA.

I’ve mentioned how bad the Dodgers’ bullpen has been in the last two weeks. On the other side, the Halos’ bullpen is sporting a 0-4 record, 4.96 ERA, and 5.08 FIP in June. If Noah Syndergaard starts to struggle, the visitors will be in trouble.

Pick: Take Los Angeles Dodgers at -171

The Total:

Both Angels and Dodgers have struggled to hit well in the last 15 days of action. The Halos have posted a poor .215/.281/.348 triple-slash, while the Dodgers have recorded an underwhelming .235/.303/.392 slash line.

These two teams should improve on both sides of the ball in coming days. We shouldn’t see a proper high-scoring affair Tuesday unless one of the starting pitchers falls apart.

Pick: Go under 9.0 runs at -105
