The PGA Tour schedule makes its annual stop in the Quad Cities for the 2023 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. The tournament has been played yearly since 1971, when it was originally named the Quad Cities Open. Tournament play begins on Thursday, July 6th, and ends on Sunday, July 9th.
J.T. Poston returns to Silvis to defend his 2022 title. Poston picked up his second PGA Tour victory after defeating the runner-ups by three shots. The Postman fired a four-day tally of 263 (21-under par), besting Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Emiliano Grillo.
The winner of the event takes home $1.332 million of the $7.4 million dollar purse. In addition to the winnings, the victor locks in status on Tour for two years and entry into all major tournaments in 2024.

JDC Offers Opportunity
With the lack of star power this week, the JDC offers an opportunity for players sitting outside the top 100 in the FedEx Cup standings to make a move to solidify their Tour status for next season. With just five regular-season events remaining until the playoffs, it is important for players on the outside looking in to stack as many points as possible over the next month.
The JDC has been a springboard for some players, setting the stage for first-time victories for players like Jordan Spieth and Bryson DeChambeau. Both Spieth and DeChambeau would go on to be major tournament winners.
Early Betting Favorites
The betting odds are wide open without the elite talent in the field. Denny McCarthy and Russell Henley (+1600) are tied atop the leaderboard as the betting favorites coming into the week.
McCarthy has put together a solid season, coming in ranked 24th in the FedEx Cup standings as he aims for his first career victory. In 24 events, the 30-year-old has twelve top-25 finishes, including five top-10s.
Henley won in the fall at the World Wide Technology Championship and hopes to add his second victory of the season. Since the win, Henley’s best finish was a T4 at the Masters in April.
Cameron Young (+1800) is next in line after the two favorites. Young has made 15 of 17 cuts this year with his best finish a runner-up at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event. Since a T7 at Augusta, Young’s best finish was a T32 at the U.S. Open.
Rookie Ludvig Aberg (+2200) is right in the mix of betting favorites this week. The former Texas Tech standout has played in five PGA Tour events this year, three as a pro, making the cut in all five. His best finish was T24 at both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Travelers Championship.
Adam Hadwin, Emiliano Grillo, and Eric Cole round out the betting favorites at +2800. Hadwin lost to Rickie Fowler last week in a playoff at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, while Grillo was runner-up here last season. Cole has three top-10 finishes in 26 events played in his first full season on the PGA Tour.
